Re Win7 on IQ700 series.

I do remember putting win 7 on one of these once.

Can't remember if I ever found the right driver.

But I am sure I would have.

Nvidia will be the best place to look.

you are right the onboard is 6100

but I do not have one right to hand or I would check the full numbers.

Have you tried to smash an install of vista on just to test those drivers work ok.

it could be a failure of the onboard graphics (but I doubt it)

Does not take long to do a vista install.

My Touchsmart 300 is experiencing the same problem with the black screen and when I called HP support I was told since it was out of warranty the only thing I could do was talk to a technician and be charged for it.  I asked to speak to someone else about it since I was aware of this being such a hugely widespread issue and do you know what they did??  They HUNG UP ON ME!  How is that for customer service?  I will never buy an HP computer again and I will tell everyone I know about it.  It is truly amazing that such a huge company could totally ignore so many people having this problem and not even address it.  {Content Removed: no legal discussion permitted}

I too have the 300 and experiencing the same thing. My pc has 12 days left of warranty before my extended 2 yr warranty through WALMART kicks in. This is the second time this happens first time called cs and the did somethings and got it working again for about 3mths. I called again today and he couldn't do any thing. Saying it's the graphic cards. So will be sending it in to them for repairs. But still am so mad that they are not doing more knoing there's so many issues with these darn things think I'm going to see about getting a squaretrade warranty on top of what I already have. We will see what happens.

I bought a Iq846 off of someone, and within no time it started freezing..... usually once a day at least, and at times get the black screen and would not reboot, turn on or off, and so forth... what I found works, is unplug, and remove one of the memory sticks, and then put it back in and you can turn on and away you go.... only a short term fix cause it will refreeze / turn black at some point.  I put a 80mm case fan directly over the memory slot which is close to the video card as well, and since doing so, it had been working perfectly.  I have left it on for 16 hrs at a time for the last week, and not one crash.... whereas before I was turing it off as soon as I could to hopefully alleviate a crash.   The 80mm case fan at least for the iq846 fits ok over it, I used velco in the corners to hold it on, an rigged it up to run off the usb port.... works great, not too bulky, and besides it is in the back of the machine..... been a week so far and things working great, hope it continues, and hope this may help someone.

yea i got the same problem only i got it off someone before who had the problem but when I turned it on nothing was wrong until i shut it down,now i got an all black screen :..(

I HAVE SIMALER PROBLEM

TRY THIS UNPLUG POWER FROM MAINS HOLD START BUTTON FOR FIVE SECONDS.PLUG BACK IN PRESS START

AS IT STARTS KEEP PRESSING F10 TO GO INTO BIOS. CHECK TIME AND DATE RESET IF NEEDED THEN PRESS F5 PRESS ENTER THEN F10 TO SAVE SETTINGS THEN ENTER. THIS WORKS FOR ME UNLESS I UNPLUG FROM MAINS AGAIN

You are all right! I have exact same predicament with this expensive computer, I Iost my trust to HP, we need to voice outloud and post our problem to Facebook. Stop patronizing HP product, seems they are not concern about their customers. Waste of money!

Post it in Facebook! DO NOT BUY HP products! expensive computer but no quality, I bought mine for almost $2000, have same problem.

Anyone figure out why this is happening?  My Touchsmart 300-1120 started doing that.  

I replaced thermal paste, check all the bios setting, ran every diagnosis possible but it will goes black screen after 4-5 min of use

the only thing I have not done is change out the power supply - the small green light goes off when the screen goes off - so maybe the PS is overheating>

Any ideas?
