Yes that is a Bluray reading drive.

But you also need the appropriate software to play BR discs, make sure you have the most updated version of the HP-DVD software, not all versions will properly play BR movies.

At the hp.com support pages for your model, that is ALWAYS the place to get updated drivers and applications for your model, have you tried there yet?

I already went to the HP Download page there is no firmware for the Blu Ray player over there over there.

What makes you think you need firmware?That's rarely ever needed.

You asked where you could get the latest update for the HP DVD software with Bluray support, and that's what you'll find at hp.com in the support/downloads section for your model.

You need to be clearer in what you're asking for and what you're problem is, your original post asked one question " is this a bluray player?" and the answer was yes.

Please try restating what the actual issue you're having is and what you've already done to try and resolve it.

Otherwise we could be here for years playing a guessing game as to what you really want but haven't actually said.

Okay Sorry I also wanted to know WHY no Blu Ray discs work in that player. Regular DVD dics work in there.

One of the 2 items is the issue:

A: The BR laser section of the drive is dead, it's not the same as the DVD laser

B: The version of the HP DVD software you're using is not recognizing the BR discs, this is almost always solved by using the latest version.

You can also eliminate or confirm B: by using a trial of another product such as Total Media Theater, but do NOT use any Cybermedia products since they are the OEM for HP.

Okay here is my results I installed the Total Media Theater and no Blu Ray DVDs worked I tryed many of them BUT regular DVDs worked. I took apart one side of the computer to see that the DVD drive only has one laser light NOT two so I guess this is NOT a Blu Ray player.

Your part number says it IS a BR player, but the BR section of the laser could be dead
