A: Stuff happens, that's why there's a warranty

I had a chat with HP they were going to send me a new Internal  Blu Ray Player/Burner for free but they wanted my credit card number I told them I dont use credit cards so the next option was to send the entire unit back. I said forget it. Not going to happen. They also wanted the old player/burner back. I bought a LG super multi blu ray player/burner it attaches to the USB works great so I can watch all my blu rays on my computer.

hi,

i have the same problem, however with my hp envy 17 1050ea. it suddenly won't play blu ray dvds. it plays dvds no problem. have tried some of the fixes, eg ms fixit, checking if the blu ray reads with hp's support assistent (it said; no problem!) and looking for updates through the media player (hp's, that is) nothing worked! oh, i forgot, i went to check for an update to the media player, hp suggested too, again, to no avail.

yeah, stuff happens! like your answer there, but i am the one at home with an expensive unreliable computer that isn't doing what it said id would do, looking through numerous web pages for help, support, and relevent drivers.

ok, the problem is: it reads the disc, but on pressing 'play' it won't play at all. am getting no blu-ray menue, nothing, save for a media player screen that remains blank.

finally, i too thought, maybe i should go and get an external blu-ray re-writer, butt why should i add an extra 150 euros to solve a problem that seems to be quite common with hp's blu ray players. also, my warranty ran out about 2 months ago, so i haven't got the option of sending my machine back to hp. (not that i would want to)

best, mark.
