IQ772 - BSOD caused by nwifi.sys

I've been having problems with this for a few weeks now.

When I boot the pc the wireless works fine, but after a minute or two, the wireless driver crashes, and the pc bluescreens.

I've disabled and uninstalled the driver in safe mode, and installed various versions, but none of them work.

I've also returned the pc to its defaults from both D drive and recovery CD, and still having the same issue.

I've installed sp37364, 26870, 37375 - none of them have solved this issue.

Any help is appreciated, as I'm short of just buying a USB wireless receiver!

I've tried that too, but the driver still freezes and stops working (although it hasn't blue-screened yet, but it has only been about 5 mins!)

ok, so it hasn't blue-screened since, but the wireless adapter still keeps "uninstalling" itself for no reason. It would be working away fine, then it would disconnect from the network, red x through the box. When I go to Diagnose and Repair, it tells me there is no wireless adapter to be found.

    HELP!

    Give this a whirl...

    1. 1. Downloading the original drivers for your wireless adapter from hp.com for your PC and run/save the driver to your local HD to a specific folder.
    2. 2. Uninstall the driver for your wireless adapter from either the add/remove programs or from device manager.
    3. 3. After uninstalling the driver, delete the wireless adapter from your device manager.
    4. 4. Reboot your PC and log back in.
    5. 5. Your PC should detect the new wireless device, it should prompt you to search or specify a drive.  You want to specify the folder you unzipped the drivers to in step 1.
    6. 6. I guess from here you follow the prompt on installing the drivers and then
    7. 7. Configure your wireless adapter to connect to your network...
    8. 8. You might want to then apply any Wireless Updates from HP drivers and support web site...

    Good luck!

Thanks for the replies, guys! I'll try them out today.

I did uninstall Norton, that has improved things greatly, but the driver does disappear randomly at times still, especially when I reboot my pc.

    Thanks again!

    Try this

Go to Control Panels, Power Options and change it to High Performance.

I am willing to bet that will stop the problems.

    I now have ZERO crashes & BSOD's

    Re: IQ772 - BSOD caused by nwifi.sys

ok so everything has stopped working again!

    No BSOD's, yet!

The driver isn't loading for the wlan - when I look at its properties in Device Manager I see "Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"

I've had a quick look online and I can't see anything.

I've uninstalled Norton, which solved the problem for a few days. I've tried about 20 system restores, none of which solve the problem.

    I dunno what to do!
