Illumination (or lack of) on my HP TS 600-1120

I purchased my computer several months ago and circumstance kept me using my old one because I didn't have time to set up the new one.  Now, I have it setup, I realized last night (while trying to work in the dark) that the "Illuminate your work space with the built-in ambient light" (illumination for the keyboard) doesn't exist... or doesn't come on... I'm not sure which.  Anyone else have this problem?
