I want to upgrade my new Touchsmart 520-1030 from 4GB to 8GB. I have purchased Kingston 8GB HyperX blu. I cant seem to find any instructions on making the change. Any help would be so appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
The HP "how-to" article should be helpful. You might want to check with Kingston and make sure that you have the correct memory dimm for your Touchsmart. The motherboard specifications indicate that 8GB is supported but only with two 4GB dimms.

The reason I ask is I just purchased the 520-1030 and they offered a 4GB with purchase for $50. so I only have the one 4GB and the 2 ea 2GB that came with it. Do I need to purchase another 4GB, return the one I purchased, or just replace 1 of the 2GB with the 4GB and have 6GB? You had 6GB, was it 2ea 3GB? or different?

The 1050 comes with 6MB which includes a [ crucial memory ] 4MB PC3 12800 MB/Sec SODIMM and a [ elpida brand- never heard this one ] 2MB 2R8 PC31600S-9-10-F1. total 6MB
The above I tookof the modules I removed. So they were missmatched buy HP. Not sure why they did not just make the system 8MB cost was nill.
THe 2- 4MB that I added were PC3 12800 SODIMM, If I had checked before ordering I would have ordered only 1, but the system doc said that the memroy installed were PC3 10600 MBDDR3-1333.
So I recommend you actually take the back cover off and check the memory module. If it is the same as I have above then install only one. I believe on either Kingston's or Crucial's site the site has an app which checks your memory so you can upgrade correctly.
But again if you have 4MB upgrade to 8MB which is the system max.
