Magic Canvas display issue:

HP Touch Smart 520-1050

Windows 7 64-bit

I am receiving a thin line that surrounds the carosel menu when I am using the touch Smart desktop. The carosel still works fine as far as the functionality.  The line surrounding the menu only recently appeared, it was not there fresh out of the box 3 weeks ago. I am assuming it is a software issue.  Has anyone else noticed this? There is not an issue with the display when I am using the regular windows desktop.

Re: Magic Canvas display issue:

Jason, welcome to the forum.

I have to begin with a disclaimer: I have never used a TouchSmart.  With that said, could it be that there is a setting that got changed accidentally?  I have seen instances where, for whatever reason, they use a border around a menu.

Re: Magic Canvas display issue:

I don't believe so, I have gone through all of the settings (very limited with the magic canvas desktop) and nothing seems to work.  I have also reached out to HP could not diagnose the issue either.  This is actually the 3rd machine I have encountered this issue with I returned the previous 2.  Hoping to find someone that might have an answer to the issue or may also be experiencing the problem as well.  I can't be  the only one, especially since it has happened 3 times so far but I can't find anything about others having the same problem.

Any way you might be able to help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: Magic Canvas display issue:

Jason, it is my pleasure.

It sounds like whatever is happening can't be only limited to your TS computers.  If you could post a plcture of the screen maybe it would get a better response.

Have you tried doing a non-destructive System Recovery to see if that helps?  This would not effect your personal data.  I still recommend doing a backup before beginning, however.

One last thought.  Have you updated to the latest video driver?  Sometimes there can be a problem with the original driver.  I normally update all of the drivers as soon as I buy or build a computer.  This is one time when the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", doesn't apply.

Re: Magic Canvas display issue:

So no luck.  The magic canvas has been uninstalled and then using the recovery mangaer, it was reinstalled and the line surrounding the carosel is still there.  HP online tech support assisted but it did not work.  Would it be possible that the softweare could be corrupted from the location I reinstalled it from?  Wondering if I can download a new copy from HP to see if that works.  Thoughts?  This just does not make any sense to me, that no one else has had this issue, especially since it has occurred on 3 different machines that I have had.

Re: Magic Canvas display issue:

Have you found the solution? I have the same issue. Weird thing - I created 2nd user account, and the second user doesn't have a border, while mine user does...
