Microsoft Works

I bought the new HP Touch smart desktop computer and it doesn't have Microsoft Workds on it.  That is the program I used to type all my letters on, printed them off and mailed them.  I've tried every thing on this new one and when I try to print off the letter it comes up with PDF thingy and will not print.  I've tried every thing I know how to do and wondered if someone could help me.

Windows 7

If helping please use step by step instructions and I hope to goodness I can find this page again with the help...LOL.

Re: Microsoft Works

Microsoft Works is no longer included with OEM computers. Please download and install OpenOffice.org 3.3.0. It is a free office suite that is similar to and compatible with Microsoft Office.

Re: Microsoft Works

OK... only two things I can think of... your file associations are wrong or your default printer is set to something like "PDF" or "Send to PDF".  Please check these to items and report back.

Re: Microsoft Works

Hello Mastskm:

Please also check your printer is default. To do this check goto   devices and printers click it. When the windows open you should see a check mark on your printers icon. It should be green. If it is not check mark please click on your printers icon. Why microsoft printers are listed is beyond me. It sounds like every thing is going to microsoft  extra garbage stuff . This is might be one reason why you are not able to print and getting pdf messages. You might have to reinstall your printer if is not shown in the list. Possible your printers software installed your computer may have become corrupted  also. You should be able to print everything on your computer screen does not matter what type of software is installed or what is displayed.
