My 2 weeks old HP Touchsmart 600-1238d Desktop keep freezing/hanging

I need help as to why this happens and solution to it. I dont want to go to the extent of bring this heavy desktop down all the way to HP service center.

My 2 weeks old HP Touchsmart 600-1238d Desktop keep freezing/hanging here and there, half way through gaming, when opening application(even HP advisor) and during startup and bootup. Theres no blue screen of death or what, it just freeze at whatever it shows.

My graphic driver should be fine as i just updated it. core i7 1.6ghz and 4gb ram. Disk free is about 80%. Its not lag at all, but just freeze when it feels like it.

Please help...  I almost cant start my desktop before posting here.

Well, the fact that you can actually boot into windows is good news because a lot of us cannot even boot up our machines on Windows anymore.

In your case,  you need to find a bit more information.   Go to the Evenbt logs and see if you see reference to something that could be the problem.

If it happens consistently while you're in gaming mode, I would check that all your fans are spinning at full speed.  Do you have cats?   Cats are wonderful but can put a lot of fine hair into the air that gets pulledinto a computer....strangling fans.   Same with dogs..worse with cats because of their finer hair.

Power supply is another concern.  What's the wattage of your power supply?

Also, power supplies have their own fans and they can also fail.  Check it.

Malware / viruses can also cause this.   Do a boot time scan if you can.

Do you mean the fan might be the cause of problem? I have dogs at home. But the touchsmart is just 2 weeks old..

Anyway, so far, it does not freeze on games anymore, instead, it freeze on bootup and startup more often.. Did some diagnoses but all appears passed. I emailed HP and they gave me some solution, i tried some of them, disk defragment, msconfig, etc, but doesnt solve the problem.

I understand what you are saying perfectly! My daughter and I bought the touchsmart 600 3 weeks ago, both of us freeze up constantly! This is the worst pc I have ever had.

This cannot be a coincidence, that all 3 of us are having problems.

Hi crossing23,

I just did a search and it says window registry might be a problems to freezing computers.. I just downloaded a window registry cleaner program: RegCure and it detects alot of problems within my registry.. Hope it helps to solve my problem.. You can try to search for other better window registry cleaner too.

Anyone know of any good registry cleaner??

I went to cnet.com and downloaded Wise Registry Cleaner, for free, that was highly reccomended by them.

After a complete scan, nothing was found wrong.

So I am back to square 1, and wish I never bought this PC.

We cannot be the only 3 people this is happening to. I sure hope someone from HP sees this, because it is not giving HP a good name. I have always bought Dell, and now I know why.

Have you noticed that no one has joined in to help us? If it is happeninfg to our 3 pc's u can bet it is happening to alot more.

There is a huge problem with PC , and they are just ignoring it!

I , too doubt that it is an isolated incident. I have had my Touchsmart 600 1365qd  cto for less than a week . and it hangs many times a day.  Customer service is at a loss.
