My Screen has white noise (grains)

I just bought the touchsmart and like everything but the screen. I'm not sure if this is normal for touch screens but mine is not clear because of all the white noise on the screen. I was able to replicate what it looks like in photoshop by taking a screen shot and applying the noise filter to the image. The entire screen is covered evenly. The noise appears before and during booting so it's not a driver issue.

Is this normal or do I have a defective product? I took it to best buy which is where I bought it and they said this is normal but I just can't believe that's the case. I'm thinking of returning it so if you know of anything I can do to make this go away, I'd appreciate feedback.

Also, i do have screen shots but I can't attach them here. I'm willing to send them to someone if they need to see what I'm talking about.

Try doing a cut and paste of the pic.

It will help if we can see it.

Does the "noise" stay on all the time, or just during boot?

maybe better to take a photo of it and upload it to imageshack.us and post it here in this thread..

You might want to look through the nvidia tools. right click your desktop and select nvidia and check the options. i'm not in front of my touchsmart but look for reset setting to defaults or something..

I have the same problem (ripple or noise over the screen (display)

I've spoken with HP service center and they said that thats kind of feature ща the laptop but not a defect! Realy funny))

So when i loose my eyes couse of HP it will be OK.

I will wright to HP a letter but i guess i wont help me so an the end i will sue them.

BUT IF HP WANT TO HELP ME I WOULD BE VERY HAPPY!!!! HELP

If you're talking about a buzzing sound near the middle of the computer at the bottom of the frame,

You're in luck.

I called HP about it and they determined it was a hard drive failure (excess noise).

I sent it to their repair shop, they replaced the hard drive.

It came back 4 months later.

Anyways, It's normal since I've had the buzzing sound for 3 months or so and nothing's happened.

If there is no buzzing sound at the bottom of the monitor frame, then disregard this message.
