My TouchScreen Stopped working!

[ Edited ]

I just got my Tm2 back from getting repaired about maybe 2 months ago. My screen worked 2 weeks ago I know for sure. But now it's not. I have noticed that the last week it has suddenly been saying "USB drive does not recognize component" or something similar. Except nothing is plugged into the USB ports. I plugged each port into my external drive last night and the message now stops. No idea it that is related to the touchscreen not working. It makes the little beep when I flip my screen down and the touch logo comes up.

Can anyone help me? I read something about hitting the Scroll Lock key on another site but I don't seem to have one. Thanks for the assist!

Re: My TouchScreen Stopped working!

Here is an HP article about Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues in Windows 7.  This is probably a good place to start.

Hope it helps,

GeorgeFN

Oh, I was just guessing you had Windows 7.

Re: My TouchScreen Stopped working!

Yes I am using Windows 7. I think I need a factory reset but I don't know how to do that. None of the other solutions worked. In fact my pen and touch option menu is messed up (it does not have the touch and penning tab). I am sure that the USB that is not working is actually the touchscreen. The device manager say that it has been turned off because it's not working properly.

Re: My TouchScreen Stopped working!

Sounds like it might get pretty involved.  Here is a Microsoft article, What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?

Also, here is an HP article, Creating and Using a System Image to Restore Your Computer (Windows 7).

There is quite a bit of information in these two documents.  There is a distinct difference between recovery and restore, so proceed with caution.

If you determine that you need to restore your system to how it was on a previous date, or completely recover the system, you should be able to do it.  Again, proceed with caution.

Good luck,
