Please Help With Webcam Broken Due To Updates.

When I installed SP2 for Vista Home Premium on my HP TouchSmart IQ506 ... it kills my webcam entirely ... it grays out the option to click the 'webcam' button inside of the touchsmart video area.


Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

When I restore back to before the update it works again...but I would like to be able to have the best of both worlds.

 

Ongoing problem since 2009 with no help or solution as of yet.

I have an IQ806 and the webcam survived the sp2 update... not sure why it is conking out. But, I would go into HP software recovery and reinstall HP touchsmart webcam. Start -> All Programs -> PC Help & Tools -> HP Recovery Manager -> Click Advance button (lower left) - Select Reinstall software programs that came with your computer -> Select HP TouchSmart Webcam... and follow the prompts.
