Replaced hard disk - cannot install OS - IQ500

[ Edited ]

I have an IQ500 and the hard disk is faulty.

(bios 5.04)

I replaced the hard drive and tried reinstalling Vista,7,XP but im getting same BSOD

"The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant."

I havent got the recovery cds

Tried changing sata operation from AHCI to ata but problem still persisted.

loaded defualt settings on bios but still.

Also after post im getting this error "Not enough space in runtime area!!. Smbios data will not be available." and I need to press F1

I checked for bios updates in hp website but there is only Windows. Tried booting from mini windows (from my usb) but still got the BSOD.

I tried taking an image of my faulty hard drive but it is mechanically damaged.

any ideas?

Re: Replaced hard disk - cannot install OS - IQ500

I recommend that you purchase recovery disk set from HP or an HP Partner.

Did you install a SATA3 disk or SSD instead of the original SATA disk?

Re: Replaced hard disk - cannot install OS - IQ500

The original disk and the interface on the motherboard is SATA (3 GB/sec) and 7200 rpm

The error message that your BIOS gave you prompts me to ask you to consider returning the SATA2 disk and getting a SATA  disk as a replacement for BIOS compatibility.

Re: Replaced hard disk - cannot install OS - IQ500

Why are you trying to do a BIOS update?

Had you done an update before you tried to migrate your OS to another disk?
