TS 520-1050 memory upgrade

It would have been great if the TS 520-1050 came with it's max memory of 8MB instead of 6MB, but no problem it can be upgraded.

My question it seems 2 types of memory upgrades can be used and wanted to find out which I should use since I alway like my systems to be at max memory. The specs on memory upgrades say the following:

-==============================================

  • Dual channel memory architecture
  • Two DDR3 SO-DIMMs (200-pin) sockets

  • PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066)<<<<<<choice a. ?
  • PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333)<<<< choice b.?
  • Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
  • Supports 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB DDR3 SO-DIMMs
  • Supports up to 8 GB on 64-bit PCs
  • =====================================

Any thoughts

thanks

Re: TS 520-1050 memory upgrade

Boxerm, welcome to the forum.

Since the motherboard supports dual channel memory, you will have to replace the existing memory.  It appears that there are only two slots.  So, you would want to buy a set (2 x 4GB = 8GB) to assure that you have dual channel.  Dual channel is faster.  I would buy the PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333).  Here is a good explanation of memory speeds.  If you are like me when I first began learning about RAM, most of this information will be difficult to understand.  However, it will give you a good learning experience.

I suggest using Crucial Memory.  Here is the memory that they recommend for your computer.  The memory recommended is guaranteed to work or it will be replaced with no additional cost to you.  I would read the entire page because it provides good information.

Re: TS 520-1050 memory upgrade

Hello and thanks for the reply. I have been dealing with Hp since well the HP 85, not to give my age out, sold HP systems and intergration for many years for an integrator. And have always had HP systems. Since the TS is new to me as far as all in one goes and have not attempted to peek into the back I figured best way is to ask. Seems I have a 4MB and a 2MB installed, and yes it would be better to use the PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333]. Oncde I go ahead and peek will know what is in, but yes deffinatly needs to be the same. I have fooled around with all my prior HP systems with memory upgrades, graphic card upgrades etc, but always ask first and or research first before doing anything.

I apprecaite the recommendation will also look at Kingston whom I am very familiar with also along with CM.

I will read the links you provided since at this ole age the mind does not recall as much as fast.....

Thanks for your fast response.

Re: TS 520-1050 memory upgrade

Boxerm, you are entirely welcome!  I don't mean to get too basic, but the majority of members don't have the expertise we are fortunate enough to have gained.  I guess my handle tells it all.  I am an old_geekster.  I have been using and building these things since 1984.

Good luck with your upgrade.  I can't remember if I furnished a video of the process, but one is available in the Product Specifications for the computer.
