hiddenvision??
You seem to be one of the only ones that I can find online that really has the IQ 775 black screen issue figured out. My completely inexperienced husband and I just followed your instructions step by step (It took us all day..ha ha) But when we got to the part about removing the graphics card completely we thought we must be reading it wrong so we did not ever even take it off. We switched the LVDS1 and the LDVS2 and inserted the copper penny and thermal paste to no avail. We still have a totally black screen with the sound of the fan running and only the blue power light on the power button.
Can you walk us through taking out the graphics card. We have already taken it completely apart and reassembled it but we were never quite sure which part was the graphics card that needed to be removed. Also, do we have to replace it or reconnect it somewhere else. We wont be playing any games on it. Only internet and schoolwork for the kids.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Your step by step instructions were great! Except we really didnt understand the part about staring at the card for 10 min. :0
Thank You!!!!!!!!!!

The Video card should be at the front of the machine just right of center looking at the front.
It is held by two screws and the heatsink.
The CPU paste is to make a thermal bond between the Main CPU and the Heatsink.
If this is not used then your main processor may overheat and damage itself.
You need to remove the heatsink from the procesor to be able to get the graphics card out.
If you do not remove the graphics card then nothing else I said will help.
You may still find it does not work but I think it is a method worth trying.
Puting extra copper under the heatsink is not a good thing.
All this does is force more pressure on the proessor.
That may perhaps fix a problem where one of the connections has broken but it is never a good thing to have excess force on any component. More so it if heats and cools a lot.
You can put more copper on the top ! but then you still have to cool it.
The Graphics card does not use thermal paste. On that they use a silicon thermal pad.
Last note,
You may find that you do not have a Graphics card install. (so nothing to remove)
If that is the case then you may have a problem with the onboard non removable GPU.
Hope that helps.

I also have an IQ775 video card issue. I seriously think HP should be sued for this. I have tried numerous times to have this resolved as well. I sent it in a few months ago to have it repaired while under warranty, only had it for 3 months and the same error came back up again, this time the warranty had just expired.. I think we should organize a class action lawsuit against HP. This is simply inexcusable. All this money we all spent and they neglect us as though it was our fault for falling into their little All in one PC trap...
Any how, if you agree please let me know, I need at least a 100 other people to participate.
In the meantime, does anyone have a out of warranty solution yet, this is still practicly a good pc< just bad parts.. i am sure the monitor can be salvaged or a rebuild of the pc.. Need an expert's poinnt of view

If you have early signs of problems then you may try to take the top off and clean out the fan and cooler from any built up dust.
Poor air flow resulting in heat build up is the biggest killer of these machines.
If you live in a dusty enviroment then a regular clean will help any computer live longer.
If your graphics card has pooped itself then REMOVE IT and connect the monitor cable to the other socket.
This will then use the Onboard GPU and although lower spec, the machine should boot and work fine.
If you have the same symptoms but do not have a Graphics card installed then your faults may be the onboard GPU and as such is a larger repair,(that I have talked about before).
Anyway, it's xmas time so just hope that santa brings you all some new toys..
Best of luck with the repairs and the year to follow.

Is nothing to do with dust. This is a Nvidia GPU known defect which HP is not taking up to fix it.

Yes I am interested. Even Thinkpad T61 is giving a free replacement for the same affect Nvidia GPU after machine is out of warranty. But it seem HP is not.
