Hello,

I have a touchscreen HP IQ 504 with Windows 7 (64 bit).  Windows 7 was a complete install and not the upgrade from Vista.  As such, I do not have any files in recovery sectors (D drive.)  I also do not have the recovery disks.

I have followed the instruction in the blogs and have most of the TouchSmart apps installed.  I am still having difficulties with the TouchSmart _Music/Video/Photo. 

I have downloaded the file - SP44428, which is the application upgrade for MVP.  However, when running setup, it will unpack and install, but will not complete.  The error is that this software will only install on a HP TouchSmart System.

I would appreciate any help.  From what I have read, if I had the original MVP file from the recovery disk or recovery partition, than I could make this work.  One forum member had upload these files, but they have since been taken down.

I am running TouchSmart Version 3.0.35.0_01_V6, which I downloaded from the HP Support Site (sp44643).

If you read his post, one solution would be to have the files from the partition of another computer.  However, I cannot find the original apps.

I would buy a recover disk, but I do not think I could seperat out the files.

FYI - my message is that this software/application is only designed for HP TouchSmart or Media Smart systems.

The computer is a refurb and it looks like the system has been renamed. I went to the HP site and ran the automatic detect tool and it did not find the computer.

I did unzip the files and am in the temp directories. I have installed other apps, such as browser and calendar in this manner. 

It is only the MVP player not working.   I have also downloaded the original MVP app, but am running into the same issue.

I would appreciate any assistance. I am contemplating sending the computer back. If I can get this media working, I will be happy.

Try attempting this to reinstall the whole suite again:

Then download updates for the Touchsmart suite and install.

Well best intentions.  Thanks, but I am having the same issue.

I went back and un-installed everything and started fresh. 

1. I am unzipping and running the msi file in the source file of the original HP TouchSmart tools downloaded from the link provided in the blog (sp37504)

C:\Todd's Files\sp37504_original TouchSmart\Source\hp\tmp\src

This runs and installs.

2. I have then downloaded the application update to HP TouchSmart 3.0 (SP44643).  This runs and installs.

3. I then try to install the application update to Music Video Photo tools (SP44428).  I again go to the src sub-folder and run the setup.exe file.  It runs through all the motions and then I receive the following error -

"This software can only be installed on HP TouchSmart and HP media systems."

I have also tired installing the original SP40893 MVP program before installing the update to 3.0 (see step 2.) 

And as usual, I keep getting the same error.

For some reason, this installer is configured to only work with certain HP computers/systems.  In the refurb process, a setting might have been changed, and thus the installer is not recognizing this as a HP TouchSmart system....
