Re: TouchSmart Wireless Keyboard stopped working

Thank you for this fabulous advice!! I didn't realize it, but I had the exact same problem. I thought I needed a new keyboard. Reparing the battery springs was a much better solution!!

Do all keyboards have four, because we have one not working, but can only find 2. Are there 2 more hiding in another area of the keyboard?

Nevermind.  Just saw my answer... :smileyhappy:

Re: TouchSmart Wireless Keyboard stopped working

Hi

Please can anyone give some more help to this annoying keyboard issue.  Firstly:

I have done every trick mentioned in this forum

I have used energiser batteries-dont care if they are right or not as nothing else works either!

I have eased out the connector springs to ensure connectivity (and checked the voltage from the springs with a voltmeter so I know there is poere there.

I have uninstalled and reloaded the HP software countless times (interestingly, and I will bow to people with greater knowledge than me, but when it tells me to go into device manager and uninstall any keyboard drivers, how come they re-populate magically??

Also, why is it that the PC can magically see the battery power level of the keyboard when it cannot accept a command from one of the keys????

I have a microsoft wireless keyboard working via a usb table based connector at the moment and it works fine but does nothing for the asthetics of the room-one of the reasons we bought a touchsmart and its sleek informal keyboard in the first place.

HP are proving to be everything I thought they were not; unreliable, poor customer service and expensive advice and parts.

We are on 2nd hard drive in the touchsmart (first went about 2 weeks after warranty expired)

Wirless printer C-309g power supply decided 2 burn out this morning-just after warranty funnily enough!

Added to the keyboard nightmare, I am starting to loose faith, so any stellar advice that would help me bring the keyboard to life would be much appreciated.

HP Please take note!!!!!

Re: TouchSmart Wireless Keyboard stopped working

Try using new batteries, I know you said you tried different ones but that was the problem with mine. The batteries that came with it worked fine and made contact at the positve end but they went dead. I tried putting new batteries in and they didn't work either becaues they didn't make contact but I didn't know that at the time so I figured that the keyboard was dead. So I put the original batteries back in and once again it didn't work. Then I read these posts, bent the metal pieces out and put the same old batteries that came with the keyboard back in and.. It didn't work. So then after that, as a last attempt to fix the keyboard before breaking it in half.. I put in the batteries that worked in the HP remote. made sure they touched the metal pieces and bam, it suddenly worked again.

So make sure the batteries are working in the first place, and make sure they are touching the positive conducting piece in the keybaord.

Re: TouchSmart Wireless Keyboard stopped working

Hi,

This document might help:

Also, some Ease of Access settings, such as Narrator, Mouse Keys, and Sticky Keys, can cause the keyboard to work differently.
