DO NOT BUY - see some of the issues in the forum!
Just bought this 5 months ago at Best Buy - first mistake; never but computer equipment that you will be using for business in a retail store!
From the very beginning, had issues with the screen going black when not using it for awhile and no way to get it to come back. Tried to adjust the power settings, thought I had it fixed, but today that was proved wrong. However, today while working on it in mid word / sentance, screen went black and lost the work that I had done back to the last save point. We are talking hours lost! Very frustrating.
Yes, HP is saying that it is not their issue it must be a software issue. It came with Windows 7 Home which our IT vendor upgraded to the Windows 7 Professional. They are trying to tell me that the software change is the reason. Cannot see how that would be at all impacting, rather their way to pass off on responsibility.
It now has to sit in BIOS mode for 2 hours so they can monitor...

Hello to all those dealing with Black Sreen Of Death. Now will you all please change your updater setting to download updates but let me choose witch one to install. Do this to both HP's updater found in HP Support Assistances and Windows Updater. Never install more then four at a time. When you install your updates. Now you can say Bye Bye to Blackscreen how long I do know since I change my setting I am now going on my third year with out having to deal with Black Screen . In the two year span I had only rolled my computer back ounce because Hp Support Assisant update failed to install correctly. Two many updates installing causes this issue.
Microsoft just released a big batch of security updates. This why you all are having this issue now.
Try it and see for your self. Please click Kudos if this has resolved your issue. Thank you frrw.
eg137 You need to read the warranty. HP is just trying to detearate customers. If you read it HP only covers it hardware and Hp software only. Not Third parties software. That means Windows and third parties software such as Net Flex. If it does not have Hp Touchsmart infront of software then they are not respouncable for it. Who really cares about software you can always reinstall it. How ever hardware is another story that is what you want to covered any way. How is HP respouncable for microsoft software? Call Microsoft for windows support it is free 24/7. If your Hp software or hardware is not working then call HP Support. Better yet just come here you receive better support here. By us users.

I have had my 310 for 14 months and last week my screen went black for the first time. I called Hp which they told me out of warrenty, which I knew. He had me take it all apart , take out memory cards and plug it back in nothing worked. Iwas on phone for 2 hours with them. They tried to tell me mother board was bad. So I told them to get it fixed whatever it took. Was going to cost me 319.00 dollars. So the other night when I got home I tried something we never tried. I left every thing powered up, unpluged power cord from the back of computer and plugged it right back in. It worked I am using my 310 for the last 2 nights with no issues.
