Re: Touchsmart 600xt Audio Performance

The new link is:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL32805/pv-81489-2/sp46209.exe

I only post the FTP links as a way to "get the news out ahead" of the links on the software driver and downloads page.   Checking the page for your particular model is the preferred way to find these updates.   As you can see - if something is tweaked/changed, the folder on the FTP server may change.   I'll see if I can get my original post edited to reflect the new URL.

Re: Touchsmart 600xt Audio Performance

Hi,

I'm wondering if I am the only one who still has this problem? I continue to have distortion and crackling. I have installed both of these patches. Have I missed something?

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL32805/pv-81489-2/sp46209.exe

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL32307/pv-80051-1/sp44652.exe

Thanks,

Scott.

Re: Touchsmart 600xt Audio Performance

Scott,

Everything I've heard says that the majority of the issues are resolved by the video BIOS update, while the rest can be resolved with the wireless update.

You might want to ensure that you've got the latest drivers for the TV Tuner (if you have one)  installed as well as system BIOS, as I know there was some interaction with power management/resume issues between the two.    You should be able to find them in the software drivers and download page for your system.   I'd also run HP Update (from the HP folder) to get the rest of the criticial updates that may apply to your system, and run Microsoft's Windows Update (or Microsoft Update) to get any critical or recommended updates for the MS software.

Does the crackling come from the internal speakers - or do you have external speakers connected?  Sometimes wireless drivers or bluetooth devices can induce noise into external amplified speakers (I'm stretching here on this one).

If none of this resolves it or helps, I'd suggest contacting HP Support to try to get the PC in for repair.
