Touchsmart 610-1030uk microphone not working

Hi, 

 

My microphone is not working on a new Touchsmart 610-1030uk - I've tried every possible setting in the sound control panel, both with the integrated mic and a mic plugged in, as well as updating audio drivers etc. From the sound control panel & device manager, everything appears as if it should be working, but the only way I've been able to get audio into skype is via an external webcam with inbuilt mic.

 

Any ideas?
