I uninstalled HP Support Assistance after it kept opening with errors. When I attempted to reinstall the program I received message, "System does not meet minimum requirements. Update has been cancelled (1602)

Hello ddavis2007:
This is how you fix this issue. Unistall HP Support Assistant first if you haven't already. Now open up your recovery manger select restore software and drivers. When the next window opens go down the list and select HP Support Assistant click next. Now original HP Support Assistant is in stall. Let itself update. It will update itself on its own. This time with the correct 64 bit one. You proble been downloading 32bit one by mistake. Oh the new version has bugs Microsoft defargmeter does"t work in tune up just leave it un check. Do that from the program's list. You are alset now. Please click on kudo if this resolves your issue
Thank you frrw.

Thanks, but I already tried both ways. I did a reinstall from the recovery manager and it indicated that it was reinstalling but the program is not to be found. I also tried downloading the proper 64 bit Windows 7 version from the HP site and, it too, indicated that all was well until the actual install when it indicated that system did not meet minimum requirements.
I also checked for the HP Support Framework\HPSF.exe but it is not on the C - drive.
I really liked the Support Assistant program, but it seems to be gone forever.

Hi,
The error you describe is usually a result of corrupt Registry Keys, so try the following.
Unless you still have the installer, download the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the page on the link below - the download links are towards the bottom of the page - and save the installer to your Downloads folder.
http://h18021.www1.hp.com/helpandsupport/hp-suppor
Next, if you don't have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip on the link below.
With 7-Zip installed, right click the HPSA installer you download earlier, select 7-Zip, select extract files and then click Ok. Open the newly extracted folder, right click on UninstallHPTCA and select 'Run as Administrator' - you may well see no progress of this attempted uninstallation, so leave the PC to idle for a good 10 minutes before restarting it.
Open your Downloads folder and delete the previously 'extracted folder' so that you are left with just the HPSA installer.
Now run the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the link to install the new version of HPSA.
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_
Does it now install Ok and if it does, is it functioning correctly?
Regards,
DP-K

Hello,
I get Error: 1605 even after trying your steps and I never see HPSA listed in the 'Fix it' list of items.
Please help!
