IQ816, product #FK783AA-ABA, windows7 64bit. When I upgraded my IQ816 to windows 7 I lost my Touchsmart programs. I removed all of the 2.0 software and loaded all of the 3.0 software in the advised order and still no help. Like everyone else who is in the same boat when you call for support there isn't any. Why can't there be a program to install on these machines to install Touchsmart back into these machines? My touch screen still works and that is all. I have looked and searched and have seen all of the posts from all the people who are looking for the same HELP. Maybe some expert can find an answer for us, PLEASE! There has to be a solution other that going back to factory default.

You said you installed the Touchsmart 3.0 software, those ARE the Touchsmart programs, and all of what you need is available from the HP support section for your model.

You upgrade to Win7 and then install all the various Win7 Touchsmart updates from the hp.com support section for your model.

I never got it to work. I worked with tech support but that did no good at all, all they know how to tell you is to default it back to factory and start over. I deleted all of the 2.0 software and loaded all of the 3.0 software but that didn't work either. Good luck. I think I will buy a Dell for my next one. I got an answer from one of those so called "Experts" who said download the 3.0 and that is all you need. BULL

I worked with tech support, we even deleted all of thew 2.0 and dowloaded and installed the 3.0 and it still doesn't work and in the end they said sorry, so here I have this nice machine and is no better that a desktop and plane old monitor.

I have done this identical process on an IQ506 and IQ846 units multiple times and it has never NOT worked, every time I restore them to factory with Vista, upgrade to Win7, then install the TS 3.x apps downloaded from the website. SInce your posts are a bit light on what isn't working it's tough to even try to help.
Seriously, I've done this at least 10 times over the past 3 years, works the same with no issues every time.

The only thing that works on my pc involving touch is touch, I can type on the onscrean keyboard, tap on things and thats it. When I double click the HP Touchsmart icon I get the screan pop of the HP Touchsmart and that is all. When I go to Start, All programs, HP, Touchsmart, all I get is the HP touchsmart logo, when I press the Touchsmart button on the lower right hand corner of the pc I get the same. That is what happens. If you know of some way to make this work I would love to know.
Thanks,
Wayne

I'd like to upgrade my iq816 to Windows 7; what version do you recommend, and did you upgrade RAM at all when you did that?
Mine was a refurb I bought a good three years ago for a fantastic price and I've never had any trouble with it. It's hanging on my kitchen wall and still elicits measurable wow factor from people that haven't encountered an all-in-one before. I really hope to get a good 2-3 more years out of it. The only irritating factor is no HDMI input for cable; so stupid to leave that off an HD screen. I believe HP rectified that with newer releases?

the 4GB of RAM th eunit has is fine, no need to upgrade
buy whatever version of Windows 7 x64 you want, all will function and perform equally in the IQ816
