flickering screen

I've just installed Windows 7 onto touchsmart pc. Since doing so the screen flickerers constantly and is very annoying. The screen has also become very dull. Does anyone know how resolve this?

Touchsmart  Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T5850 @ 2.16GHz (2167 MHz). I've updated the Nvidia driver however, it is still flickering

Hi Loz,

If you have iq500 series with 9300M GS video card, then you need to download the Vista x64 version of the driver update for your model PC, use the "Support & Drivers" to search for your model and download the update for your graaphics card from the vista x64

Here is how you need to apply it.  Please also leave feedback on the driver support page so that HP can fix the Windows 7 version...

1. install winrar.

2. then download the hp iq506 Vista x64 bit version of the update driver to your local hard drive... NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS Graphics BIOS and Driver Update 07-2008 7.15.11.7466 - 77.75M

3. then using windows file explorer, right click on the driver exe and select "Extract to sp35723\"

4. Move into the sp35723\src directory and run setup.exe from there.

5. A reboot will be required. This is the only driver for the iq508a that works fine for me.

What I suggest as I have done, is to feed back to HP that the Win 7 driver doesn't work..

To download your vista x64 driver, click on the "Support & Drivers" link from the top of this web page... 

Or click this and follow the steps to download the Vista x64 bit driver for your Model PC

I'm having this same problem. I have an HP TouchSmart 1Q506t CTO that came with Windows 64bit Vista...

I upgraded to Windows 7 home Premium and this flickering is constant. What can I do?

Jim, I am glad this is working for some TouchSmart IQ506 users. It doesn't work for my IQ506. The update you recommend is blocked from downloading (system doesn't meet the minimum requirements...is the gist of the error message). Nvidia downloads error out with message -- cannot locate any drivers compatible with current hardware.

Anyone know when HP and Nvidia will come together with a solution for the flickering after installing Win7 Home Premium??

Ultimately HP should fix their drivers for our NVIDIA 9300M GS, however you can also resolve this problem by install the latest NVIDIA Windows 7 driver by following these instructions...

You then need to install Nv GPU Pro to turn off PowerMizer:

By turning off PowerMizer, the screen flickers are then gone.  I have tried this and works on my iq508a..

You could instead try installing the iq506 HP graphics Windows 7 driver and then use Nv GPU Pro to turn off PowerMizer, I haven't tried this but I would think this will resolve the problem as well.
