Re: hp touchpad

The HP site now says "Coming Soon - check back".

We were all lied to .  Coming soon ment that you had to buy a new system to get a touchpad.  Apparently it will be a rebate from what I am hearing.  For those of us that were loyal customers and do not need another computer we are {Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion}.  Customer loyalty means nothing to HP.  I really thought that they were going to get people on the list touchpads.  Instead Best Buy, Tiger Direct and Walmart recieved them.  I am very disappointed.  I may never buy HP again!!!!

The words that went with the "coming soon" were generally rather non-commital with regards to how many units might be available, if any.  I did see the Touchpads on the HP site for a short itme one day, but the prices were a bit higher - I recall $169 for the 16Gb version and they quickly disappeared.

Unfortunately HP was losing about $200/unit according to some analysis of the production cost.  Demand was high (at the lowered price) and there was just not inventory to meet that demand.  At that point HP could have raised prices to a point where demand and supply were more in balance or try something more creative.  I do not have a big problem with the current plan to sell off the remaining inventory.  With perhaps a few hundred thousand units available and demand perhaps in the millions for a low cost tablet any solution was bound to leave 90% or more of the would be customers unsatisfied.

[I do not work for HP or represent them, I am a volunteer on this board like most of the rest of the users here.]

Re: hp touchpad

then why did Best Buy, Tiger Direct , and Walmart get them.  Also if you sign up shouldn't,t you get one instead of them being for sale on the site?

Re: hp touchpad

Just another comment.  If they were losing so much per unit then they lost millions by supplying all these companies like Best Buy Tiger Direct and Walmart  with the inventory they had.  What about the rest of us!!!!!
