I just bought (and received) a new 300-1025 Touchsmart PC. When I tried to run hulu, I got caught in a loop of "install this update to hulu" that would never end. I tried quitting and restarting, rebooting, everything. I kept saying "OK" to install the update during this. Then I tried not installing it, but it would quit. Then I tried to run hulu desktop from the main Windows 7 interface. This broke the loop, but it also removed the hulu tile from the Touchsmart interface!
I can re-add hulu as a "desktop application", but not as a "Touchsmart application".
Since I've never been able to run hulu successfully in Touchsmart with the Touchsmart interface, is it the same either way? When I add it as a desktop application it is not maximized, so does not hide Win7...

Try installing this Hulu Touchsmart Update that might resolve the problem:

if the patch didn't help, you can try register the hulu application in touchsmart. to do this look for the hulu*.xml file in the DefaultAppSettings directory, and run the following commands.. Please note the xxxxx-xxxx is the guid id...
CD C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\TouchSmart\SmartCenter 2.0
RegisterSmartCenterApp.exe updateconfig "C:\ProgramData\Hewlett-Packard\TouchSmart\SmartCe
Then load up touchsmart and you should either see it as a tile or a large tile, it'll then run as a touchsmart app not as windows app, etc, blah blah....

I tried downloading and applying the suggested fix, and that brought back the icon but sent me back into the "infinite update loop" where it would ask to download updates, I'd say yes, then it would tell me to exit and restart. When I did, I'd get a EULA to agree to, then it would tell me it was downloading updates, and that I had to exit and restart. Over and over. Rebooting didn't help.
I ran the Desktop Hulu from Win7 (not Touchsmart) again, and it worked, but then the icon disappeared from Touchsmart.
I followed the instructions to re-register the application. First I got a null pointer exception (pesky things!) and then realized I missed one of the digits. When I typed it in correctly, it brought back the icon and I could use it.
Thanks for the help! At least this is working...

I got the 600-1005xt for Christmas. I'm surprised you even got HULU to work. Everything I try to play of a video nature (whethere HULU, resident on drive, on the internet) all freeze after only a few seconds to a minute or two into playing. Sometimes they freeze, then play, then freeze, then play. It's frustrating, especially for the amount of money this thing cost! My old garbage laptop from years past plays videos better.

The Hulu app for the Touchsmart sucks anyway, don't bother. It is not even "touch enabled" for gestures such as swipes etc, it is very clunky and time consuming to use. It does crash regularly.
It would be ideal if HP enforced a minimum level of standards for 3rd party application developers, e.g. make sure their apps work with touch gestures as well as regular mouse / keyboard input, and has been tested in "real world" situations to ensure reliability.
The NetFlix app does work nicely, very pleased with that. Hulu should hire the NetFlix app developers..
.
Now all we need is a GOOD YouTube plugin. There is one available through the HP Devzone website called "Internet TV" (it only does YouTube and nothing else, so the name is kind of wrong), but it is buggy / not too polished.
