Re: iq504 burning dvds

Hi MN,

Did you install iTunes or some other software with DVD burning capability before this happened? Have you ever been able to burn DVD's? Do you get any errors?

This HP support document should help you findout/fix what is wrong (particularly the clearling registry filters section):

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01300072&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en

Let us know how it goes.

Re: iq504 burning dvds

No software added.  I tried to  do  this when  making recovery discs right after setup of computer.  Says burn failed.  try another compatable DVD.  I tried DVD memorex,  hd lightscribe and  office  depot and the   same  message.  I could burn using 20 CD's but that is no the point..

Re: iq504 burning dvds

Is it only when trying to burn the recovery discs that this happens? Can you burn DVDs from any other piece of software such as Nero or from within Windows Explorer? Did you try each step in the HP support article that was posted above? All of those suggestions in the article are excellent and will probably be what HP phone support will want you to do before they'll let you ship the TouchSmart back to them. =)
