Mine too, And I can't find a setting to enable it.

Go into the folder and double click "Smart Center"... Worked for me.

I also have the problem.  I went to the Smartcenter and double clicked.  It came back and said it was disabled, choose another theme etc.

PS: I have an Omni220 All-In-One, not a Touchsmart.

Hello to all Magic Canvas I can not enable or dissable it. You can this video show where in the Video. You must paused the video towards the very end where she is showing the complete contol panel for Magic Canvas. Bottom left you will see Closing the the Magic Canvas options. Now please correct it.        I wish I could up load a screen shot to show you all. HP Website technicians  is working on it for me. As now I can not use these tool bar helpers here on this site. Don't worry in the video she shows two ways of excessing Magic Canvas in the beging of video. I going to try posting in a screen shot. So far haven't been able to. I have used my personal e-mail account for times like this usually it was with person not four.

     I have HP Touchsmart 3 software I am happy I did not upgrade it. I have seen all these issues about New version. I haven't experienced one bad issue with it yet. I hope this video helps you all. Thank you Remeber to pause the video as soon as you see the complete control panel.

The problem with your solution is that you can't get to the Magic Canvas control panel (menu) if Magic Canvas is disabled.  It needs to be enabled to get to the menu.. ergo.. same question.  How do we ENABLE it?

Hi.  I had a problem today that maybe was the same as yours.  Here are the mistakes I made (two separate ones) and how I worked thru them.

I opened a jpg (picture) file this morning by double-clciking it, so it opened with my default opening program for that file type, which had been set during setup to = HP Photo Viewer.  But not liking the options HP Photo Viewer offered, I closed the jpg, then reopened it in Windows Photo Viewer.  Then Win7 stepped in, kindly (!) asking if I wanted to make WPV the default for opening 4 file types: jpg, gif, bmp, and png.  I STUPIDLY said YES, not realizing that Magic Canvas could load only with the defaults it had been promised during setup.  (You can see all your defaults in Control Panel.)  Everything was fine until I tried loading Magic Canvas.  I got an error msg saying "One or more services have been disabled.  Must Select either Aero Win or Win7 for the desktop."

I couldn't fathom what I'd "disabled", so I tried loading each piece of Magic Canvas separately, one at a time, from the Start Menu (the HP TouchSmart folder).  Calendar loaded, and Clock, Music, etc.  The one segment I couldn't load, despite trying multiple times, was HP Photo.  But that looked promising, actually, because I knew I'd just changed how jpg files are opened.  Tech Support immediately zoned in on my defaults for opening photo files.  They helped me restore jpg and the other 3 file extensions to open with *HP Photo Viewer*.

Even so, I STILL couldn't load Magic Canvas.  So I thought about the SECOND sentence of the error message and realized that several days ago, I'd switched (via Personalization) to Windows Classic desktop theme because it's easier on my eyes.  I wondered, is the error message saying that I can only use CERTAIN desktop themes with Magic Canvas?  Weird, but worth a try.  I went into Personalization from my desktop (right-click right from the desktop) and changed desktop theme to Win 7 basic. When I tried loading Magic Canvas again, it loaded immediately.

I was confused by that error message.  It looked like one concept, but now I believe it was really saying I had *two* distinct problems, and that both needed fixed before Magic Canvas could load.  I think you should first try to figure out which aspect of Magic Canvas has been "disabled", and work thru that first.  After you solve that, then try fixing your desktop theme to one that Magic Cnavas approves of.  I hope this helps some.  Best wishes, VJ

Go to Control Panel. Then go to  Personalization. There are various display themes. Select any one that is described as an "aero" theme. There are about 7 of them including one described as the United States theme. Click it.  That's all you need to do.
