Hello,
I am checked and I have not found any BIOS update available for the system motherboard of your model...
I am sorry but there isn't one available.
How did the BIOS get corrupted?
THanks,

I bought the system used - and it came this way. I sure it's a corrupt BIOS because I put in another motherboard from another system - and it worked. What it does is restart after shutdown. - and after I installed the "TouchSmart" Applications - it restarts and goes directly into TouchSmart mode. I have tried disconnecting all of the cables on the motherboard one at a time after it has powered up - draining the BIOS (and new battery).
I really love these systems - and have worked on many of them; this one is driving me mad. Do you think you could get the original BIOS file from somewhere that I could flash?
Many Thanks for responding,
Jeff

Hello Jeff,
I would really like to help you out on your problem, but I like said before, for this system, we do not have a BIOS update published at hp.com at this moment.
I cannot commite myself to you, to provide you with the oriringal BIOS update, since is not posted anywhere, but I will see what I can do, but dont expect that I can provide it, ok ?
In case I know about something, I will let you know so that you can have your problem resolved!
THanks,

Thanks much for your concern. I think that I've solved my problem - I bought another motherboard on eBay and after swapping it out I'll try to save the BIOS to file for future flashing.
I would like to tell you my thoughts on your company. I am an old man (turning 70 this November) - and I've been working with computers for the last 35 years. I've experienced all flavors of machines over the decades - and I've found HP to be the most creative company since the early Ataris and Apples. Your "MediaSmart" and "TouchSmart" environments are like an OS all in itself - and your touch technology is superior to any I've worked with. Even the unfortunatly abandoned "TouchPad" is a better built than the competition. You seldom - if ever - see one on eBay with a broken screen (the most common ailment).
Your download and driver section has improved greatly by including the "autofind" product - and relif from that pesky feedback pop-up. The only suggestion I could offer is that you include names in the download file like "lan" or "chipset" instead of just letters and numbers. I always have to "save as".
Enough!! Thank you for your concern.
Jeff

Hello Jeff,
I appreciate all the feedback you have provided and it's good to know that you might have solved your problem.
Regarding the name of the files, they are organized in that way because we have hundreds of parts, like different LAN, Wireless, chipsets, etc, and we can't name them all with the same naming other wise we would be lost!!!
Also, each unit is linked to specific SP, this is to avoid that specific BIOS updates would not be linked to models that are not apllied, so there is a reason behind it, why it is setup in this way, but anyway thanks for your input!
Thanks,
Regards
