If I start from all devices off ... I can print one document (wirelessly) then ...nothing.
On the second print I get a partial feed, "printing" on the LED, but nothing coming through, no matter how long I wait.
The computer (HP Paviliion Win7 - 64bit home premium (Bought Jul 10)) registers a transfer for the print, the C4780 (only taken out of the box after the laptop purchase) starts to feed the paper which then stops ... and then nothing.
I have to then cancel all print docs, close everything down and start over.
When cancelling printing or shutting down it makes a ratchetting and shuddering noise, like a roller or missed gears.
It does not sound healthy ..........Have I missed a transit restraint somewhere?
What is going on?
Any Help please.
I found that in printer setup that it would sometimes reset to Letter rather than A4, I have since set up a custom print shortcut template that seems to hold the preferences ( apart from not printing in reverse order)
I am also using HP paper ........
It should have the latest driver installed (although I could have installed the 32-bit rather than the 64-bit (or vice-versa?!!))
Trying to load again (to be sure) it does not recognise the C4780 device is connected (In printer control panel it is online and connected)
Help
Edit:
I have been searching for any relevent posts but the closest I have got was with this title (on this board):
"All-in-One F340 will print only one time then must reboot"

Try installing below two updates:
Critical Update to Enhance Reliability of Network and USB Connectivity and Improve System Responsiveness While Printing

Thanks David,
I have downloaded those recommendations; the second definitely did not have an effect (no device relevent, not needed), the first I'm not sure.
I did completely remove and reinstall all drivers and software and printer about two weekends ago; printing is intermittent but improved.
If the printer stalls (paper part-feed, the printing display is showing, but .... nothing) then I cancel printing, wait, and sometimes the intended document prints.
I have noticed that the printer cartridges do not last long (I have hardly printed anything).
I will see how your advice goes, but unless something miraculous (or there is another reason and cure) then I think I'll be changing this printer.
Thanks anyway.
Dave
