C7250 black color problems

My all in 1 C7250 (approx 2.5 yrs old) will not print properly in black.  My operating system is HP Pavilion (almost new) with Windows 7.  I have tried 3 new black cartridges(1 is HP dated 10/13/2012) with no success.  All the other 5 colors are full.  I've tried all the posts for correcting (cleaning, re-setting, etc).  The test page thru the printer shows about every 3rd line in black being printed.  The print quality pattern shows the 5 colors full and proper.  The black color is light and stripped.  My printing problem is with both paper and photographs.  Any suggestions???

Hi Jayejames,

Have you tried cleaning the print head from the printers control panel menu? If you have, have you tried running it 3 or 4 times in a row? If not, please give this a try. It's my understanding that the PH nozzles become larger after each PH cleaning (up to 4) to help clear any blockage.

I have just ran this program 3 more times from the printer tools menu per your suggestion.  All 3 printed reports showed no improvement - colors are good and the black is approx printing about 1/3 of the lines and the characters are stripped.  Jay

I have one more trick up my sleeve, it's a procedure that will reset your printer to a factory state. We don't publish these steps publicly, so I'll private message them to you. Please reply to this thread to let me know if it worked or not.

If it works, great! If not, then I'm afraid I have nothing else to suggest.

Thanks, Miles.  Your suggestions is greatly appreciated.  I didn't want to spend another $300 for this quality printer again.  Please e-mail your procedure for re-setting my printer to the factory setting.  My e-mail address is [text removed for privacy]  Also, is your procedure does not correct my problem, do you know of anyone who actually repairs HP printers?  I live about 20 miles E of Indianapolis.  thanks again, Jay

I am having the exact same problem with my C7250.  Three different black ink cartridges...  Numerous cleanings....  No improvement...  Can you email me that procedure also?  [personal info removed for your protection]  Thanks

Hi- I do have the same problem exactly.  I tried 2 HP black cartridges already with no success.  I did all the reset, head cleaning, alignment from the menu and still with no success.  Could you share your findings with me and whether the backdoor procedures help out? Why are we having this problem???  All other inks but the black print well.  I have tried 2 new HP black cartridges, three or four head cleanings, three alignment test, manual cleaning with a lint free cloth and other tricks suggested by others to no avail.  I would greatly appreciate any "back door" or other procedures. [Personal Information Removed] so that I can try something before attempting to have someone repair my printer?  Thanks!

I have had the same problem with my Photosmart D7360 printer:  colors and photographs print fine, when printing a document the black prints every other line, and is streaked.  It is driving me crazy.  Two black ink cartridges used, neither one fixed this problem.  Have followed the manual for aligning and cleaning the printer heads to no avail.  Anyone has an answer to this, other than me taking the printer into repair, please help!  Thanks

I cannot get the black to work either and when I test the colors, it has a color missing in the squares.  These are all new cartridges.  Can I get the factory settings to try  and see if that works?  I've exhausted all other 'fix' options.  I paid way too much for this printer and can't afford to replace it at the moment.
