C7250 photo printing problem

I have had the C7250 for over a year.  I have never been able to print 8x10 photo prints from a downloaded digital picture.  I keep getting the message "no paper in photo tray".  I see the printer trying to print from the 4x6 slot even though I place the HP photo paper in the regular tray and input 8x10 and print from tray on the printer setup.  I am running Vista 64 bit.  I have no problem printing a 4x6 from the photo tray.

Re: C7250 photo printing problem

Which tray are you selecting?  The photo tray is the small tray, used only for the small media.  When printing 8x10" media you should specify the main tray.

Re: C7250 photo printing problem

yes.  I am placing the 8.5x11 HP photo paper in the main tray and specifying on the Properties menu of the printing set up under "paper source"   the main tray

Re: C7250 photo printing problem

OK, one more thing I would appreciate if you would check:  try exiting the photo printing program, then go to the printer folder and set the default printer settings there for the main tray and the appropriate photo paper, Apply.  Now go back to your photo print program and try printing.  Please report on the results as the symptoms are similar to an issue I have been trying to track down that so far has only been seen in Windows 7.
