HP Office Jet 6000 E609n Red & Blue lites blinking after installing new carts

The subject line pretty much says it all.  After installing 3 new ink carts (done many times before) the Magenta and Cyan ink lights continue to blink.  After printing an "HP Deskjet General Purpose Test-Print Evaluation Page", all 4 squares show the proper colors, fully filled in, so I know the ink carts are properly installed, etc.  (Clicked in, fully seated)

No matter what I try the lights continue to blink.  Can't get to "Toolbox" to show or else that might help.

Any help appreciated.

Forgot to mention I'm running Windows XP Home Edition.

After a lot of digging around asking questions and even going back to where the ink carts were recently purchased, the conclusion is that the ink level monitors won't work when refilled ink carts are used. (Yes, these are Office Max carts which I neglected to mention in the original post.) HP designed their original ink carts for "single use". So now the printer "thinks" the magenta and cyan ink carts are low causing the red & blue lights to blink.

　

Not long after this printer was purchased in January of 2010 the toolbox quit working, even though HP carts have always been used...up till now. I recently re-installed the HP Digital Imaging Software and the tool box is working again. What's weird is that the toolbox shows low ink levels on all three colors but only the red & blue lights are blinking. (The black cart is still an original HP.)

　

Bottom line: Next time I'll pay the extra 3 bucks for HP ink carts so the blinking lights don't drive us crazy. LOL Either that or put a piece of electrical tape over them for now.

Where did you find a copy of the "HP DeskJet General Purpose Test-Print Evaluation Page"?  I have a new HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.  This page printed out during initial installation with a slight flaw in the black box.  I'd like to print the page again but can seem to find the page in the material which came with the printer.
