I have a new HP computer, Office 2010, and Laserjet P1606dn.  Envelopes don't print in Word. They feed through the printer, but nothing gets printed. Help please.

Re: HP1606dn

Do you get any type of error message? also make sure in the printing prefrences that it is set to be printing an envelope and take any of the other paper out of the tray.

Let me know if this helps.

Re: HP1606dn

Yes, I did this. I have owned HP Laserjets since the very first one--over 20 years ago--so know how to handle envelopes. I have used Office for well over a decade, so I know what to do. I have tried EVERYTHING.  Googling tells me I am not the only person who has encountered this issue--but I can't find the solution. The envelope feeds, but nothing is printed on it.

And I should have added that there is no error message!

Re: HP1606dn

Another point: when I run through paper instead of an envelope, it still prints nothing.

Re: HP1606dn

Are you able to print a test page from the printer alone. Because you may have a different issue that what i originally thought.Try that if you would and let me know if it prints.

Re: HP1606dn

I believe there is an issue with the automatic paper sensor. I found someone with a similar problem with another model HP printer. The solution there was

In Word, click File , and then click Print.
Make sure that C6280 is in the Name drop-down list box, and then click Properties .
Click the Features tab, or the Paper/Quality tab.
Click the drop-down list under Paper Type, and then click Envelope .
Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
In the Print dialog box, click OK to print the envelope

This works on my printer too ...but what a PAIN each time I want to print an envelope.

Why this issue? Is there a simple fix? Is the automatic paper sensor not working?

Re: HP1606dn

I'm having exactly the same problem -- the envelope goes through the printer, but nothing prints.  Regular paper prints fine and I get no error message when I try to print an envelope.  This solution worked, but I agree that it's a ridiculous amount of effort for the purpose of printing an envelope (and it has to be done twice if you want to return to the Plain Paper setting after the envelope prints).  I can't believe this is what the designers intended, so there must be something wrong somewhere.

Re: HP1606dn

This made the envelope go through the printer a lot faster, but it still came through blank.
