Photo Creations - Can't Print in Fast Draft [ Edited ]

Hi Folks,

Just installed HP Photo Creations on my computer (Windows 7 Home Premium, HP C6189 All-In-One-Printer).  After installing software I couldn't print in fast draft mode. 

In the end, I had to remove the software and can now print in fast draft mode.

I have updated drivers, etc.   Why is this software affecting my printing mode?

Your help would be appreciated.   I also tried sending an e-mail to this support address and my e-mail came back via a Mail Daemon - hpphotocreations@hp.com.

The hpphotocreations@hp.com address should be working. You can also try the "Contact Support" link on the HP Photo Creations home page. This type of technical question is best handled by our customer support team, so those two are the best place to start.

Did Fast Draft mode stop working in all programs or just HP Photo Creations?

Hi Rocket,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. 

Sadly, I had to remove the software from my system.   My printer was working fine until I installed Photo Creations.

I've since had to re-install the software and I'm still having problems with trying to print in "fast draft" mode.   Whether it be at the printer or from my computer. 

It's a shame I never had a chance to use Photo Creations.  Thanks for the link.  I've contacted the support group.

Hi Rocket,

Just to let you know the first response from your support team at RocketLife would be to assist online.  Two minutes later I received a second message:

It has been determined that our software is not effecting the functionality of your printer. You may contact HP Support at 800-474-6836 to troubleshoot your printer. Once you have resolved your printer issue, you may try our software to print your creation in the fast draft mode or any other mode to make sure that works.

I purchased my printer in July 2006 and I've never had any problems.  Since 2006, I've re-install my Windows XP Media Centre about 20 times or more due to problems with Media Centre.  Then I switched over to the new Windows 7 Home Premium.  I've re-installed the software a couple of times due to hard drive failures and never had a problem with the complete install of my HP printer software.

I use 'fast draft' printing all the time because it uses less ink.  After installing the HP Photo Creations my printer would not work in 'fast draft mode' at all.

In answer to the referral to the HP phone support.  I'm not paying $$$$ to have a technical look at the problem.

My last re-install of Windows 7 wasn't a clean install.  Therefore, the registry may be corrupted from the install and removal of HP Photo Creations or leftovers in the registry.  This will be my next task to do a complete clean install of Win7. 

I haven't heard from the HP Support desk and I doubt that I ever will.

Thanks for hanging in there. Let us know if cleaning your Windows ;-) fixes the problem. I spoke with our customer support folks, who in turn checked with R&D, and they reiterated that HP Photo Creations does not affect printing modes. Also, this is not a problem we've heard before, so I'd suspect your system.
