Smart Print and IE8

I have downloaded Smart Print software and activated the Bing bar.   The Smart Print button does not appear. How do I turn the program on in IE8?  I do not want to get IE9 because it is incompatible with another program that I use every day.  I have the Photosmart Premium Fax printer, and prior to this I used Smart Web Printing succesfully for a long time.
