Re: Smart Web Printing and IE8

DexterM and CVGunny,

I have a similar problem to CVGunny.   I downloaded and installed IE8 running on Windows XP.   IE8 will run and I can click on the "leaf" for Smart Printing and the black box for smart printing will pop up on the left side of screen.  I click on "select" and the crosshair will come up and I can highlight an area and then the small popup  "clip or print" button will show.   That's when problems start.

If I left click on print, it will print that highlighted area, but that area does not appeared in SWP clipboard.  Maybe its not supposed to.

1. However, if I  left click on "clip"  then selection does NOT appear in the clipboard of the SWP screen.  So I can't edit, etc.

2. If I click on buttons:  "Preferences"  "View Website" or "Community Forum"  IE 8  freezes up and fails.

3. Also, the "edit" and "print" buttons do not lite up.

4. If I click on the "help" IE8  will freeze up.

Please advise!

Re: Smart Web Printing and IE8

I installed SWP with IE8 (Windows XP), and found that the Backup Icon (Arrow on top left) doesn't work.  Disabled the SWP Add on, and now the backup button works again.

Re: Smart Web Printing and IE8

My SWP icon disappeared with the installation of IE8 (on WinXP).  I've downloaded and installed the updated driver, but where is the icon, and how otherwise might I access SWP?

Re: Smart Web Printing and IE8

I, too, am having a problem getting Smart Web Printing to work using IE8 on a Win 7 OS.  Thanks to a previous post you indicated where to find how to select "Show or Hide HP Smart Web Printing".  I click on that but I don't see anything different happening.

What do you recommend?

Re: Smart Web Printing and IE8

[ Edited ]

I installed SWP with the updated driver for my 7410 All-in-One when i got a new laptop.  The laptop is running Windows 7 and IE8.  Every time I open IE8, SWP opens on the left side of the window, over the left portion of the site.  If I go to full screen and back to a sized window, the site sizes properly in the frame.  Is there a way to configure SWP or IE8 to automatically resize when opening so that I don't have to do it manually?

Also, in reading several other threads, I think there is supposed to be a button in the toolbar to close it for the session.  I have no way of closing the SWP window except to close the browser.  Is this normal with Win7, IE8 and SWP4.6?
