Re: Smart Web Printing doesn't work in IE9

Morning fx4.

There's really nothing to be done until, or if, HP creates some new HP Smart Print software and gives us the upgrade for our  new IE9 browsers.

Me personally, I just use my Firefox browser which also lets me use HP Smart Print, and will wait until HP updates/catches up.

I remember it took months for HP to update the smart print for IE8.

fx4, all we can do is wait.

(Go to your add/remove, or "uninstall programs" (depending on what windows version you use...XP, Vista, 7) and uninstall Internet Explorer 9, and your system should automatically "roll back" to your previous browser version. Making HP Smart Print usable again)

Another note...if you download Mozilla Firefox (a pretty cool browser actually), make sure to use no version higher than the 3.5.17 version. The newest update for the Firefox browser DOES NOT support HP Smart Print.

So, download the 3.5.17 version, go into the prefs and shut off the browsers update feature (take the checkmark out), and you will be able to use HP Smart Print exactly the same way you do with you IE8 Explorer.

All of you die hard Internet Explorer users, (as I was, and basically still am)...Mozilla Firefox is a nice browser, very very fast, no add on's and very very few "accelerators", so it loads up quickly, surfs quickly.

I also use google chrome but it does not have the Smart Print feature.

Re: Smart Web Printing doesn't work in IE9

Correct msodos.

I would imagine that Mozilla will eventually update their HP Smart Print plug~in for FF 4....eventually.

Its the same situation that were experiencing with IE9, right?  :smileysad:

It will be interesting, actually, to see who gets on the ball and updates the HP Print plugin first......IE, or FF.

I suppose it will be predicated on the demand, or the conversations like we are having here.

The more people that ask for it, the more likely it is that IE and/or FF will upgrade the smart print plugin.

Eventually!  lol

fredcone.....
I use Firefox version 3.5.17.
I had to turn off my firefox automatic update because any version beyond that version does not have the smart print plugin.

Re: Smart Web Printing doesn't work in IE9

Ok, we are now into April.  This topic was first breached in November, 2010.  There is Dani somebody on this board as a moderator.  IE9 has been official for over 2 months.  When/how do we get an answer as to when there will be an upgrade making Smart Web Printing compatible with the above browser?  It is very frustrating to try to contact HP and find no way to do it, just to ask a question and get an answer.  Seems to me someone should be on this one.

If (or when) Smartweb is compatible with newer browsers, it will be listed on this page under system requirements:

HP Smart Web Printing

Re: Smart Web Printing doesn't work in IE9

barbpatch.

i hear you.

there is no way to log into hp support or hp contact and ask the simple question as to when or if they are gonna update the hp print smart for ie9.

you cant even send a question anymore at hp support.  not unless your under warranty.

i dont even think you can get a phone number there unless your under warranty.

(when you go to hp.com/support, and try to "contact" hp, it takes you to a link that wants to run a check on your warranty status. if you are no longer under warranty, it tell you that, and stops the process of giving you an email page or a phone number)

at least that was what i encountered when i tried to "contact" hp yesterday thru the hp.com website.

if i am wrong or if anyone has a simple hp email contact addy, post it here so we can all write to hp and ask them to hurry along the hp smart print update for ie9.

( i actually like ie9.  its as fast as my firefox browser, or my google chrome.  very trimmed down, easy to disable unecessary add on's and accelorators. im using it now.  i like it.  only thing missing is my hp smart print, and i have to use my firefox browser for that.  thats a pain in the butt opening a new browser, pasting the addy, using smart print)

You can go to the bottom of this page HP Smart Web Printing, and then give your feedback as to why the download did not work.  In my case, I said they should make it compatible with Win7-64 bit, running IE9.  I suggest that everyone who reads this to do the same.  That way HP will be able to see that there are many people interested in this.
