I only registered to say that I will never buy an HP again. I won't even bother to explain my frustration because looking over the forum there is very little help here. I am just using this to vent and say that we should have done more research because the warranty and quality are a real issue with this company.

I already called tech support and since my printer is 15 months old I have to pay money just to talk to tech support. The only solution offered was to sell me another refurbished machine for $129 or an upgrade for what I paid for the last unit. I'm really disappointed since I paid good money for that printer and it was my first HP. I have always used Canon. It doesn't matter the problem when the only solution is to give HP more money. I will never buy or recomment anyone else buy an HP. This is the first time I've ever vented like this. I have done so on comsumer affairs website and Amazon. Buyer beware, HP buyer be very aware!

Hi dvdHateHP,
I can understand your frustrations. I am willing to see what can be done to fix the printer you have. I own the same printer Officejet 6500 E709n. If you are interested in advanced troubleshooting please let me know what the problem is you are facing?

I appreciate your willingness to help and your quick reply. If I had tried you first... I error my printer displayed was pretty much the failure of the printer carriage. I saw ink all over the place on the inside where the carriage parks and gets cleaned. The unit also said there was a paper jam and "accused" me of shutting the printer off with a power strip. When the support guy heard that he immediately told me my printer was not under warranty and he could only help me if I paid for the phone call. I work in an industry where that tells the customer that we can afford not to have you as a client and you can't afford our products because they aren't a disposible as our customers.

Hi dvdHateHP,
We offer extended warranties on all printers. If the printer is out of warranty then yes there is a small fee for troubleshooting that is one of the main reasons for the support forums. I appreciate the time you have taken to speak with me and sorry to hear we lost you as a valued customer. I will send you a private message with a reset which may resolve your issues. Have a wonderful evening.

No luck. Printer makes loud clicking noise and the ink carriage is unable to leave what I call the parking place. Ink is spattered on the back wall of the inside the printer. I have only used HP ink purchased at Costco.

Hi dvdHateHP,
Sounds like the service station is causing a carriage jam which is keeping the printhead assembly from moving to the center of the printer. Can you uplug the power cord while the printer is on, and then move the print cartridge housing to the center of the printer?
The steps in the document at the link below will help you with a carriage jam issue.

All seven steps failed. The carriage is stuck at the far right and like I said there is lots of ink that I can see now that I'm using a flashlight. I guess it is pay to service the printer or go shopping. Once again thanks for your help.

Hi dvdHateHP,
If you call our technical support we have a program called trade in trade up which will get you into a new printer for less cost than you will find at the retail stores. Sorry to hear that the service station motor has failed on your printer.
