c4485 All-in-one UK moved to Australia

I purchased a c4485 All in one photosmart in the UK about late 2008 / 2009.

I have since moved to Australia and am having trouble with compatibility of cartridges.

I was advised to use the cartridges for the c4480 (the 74 XL and 75 XL) as they would be compatible.

Unfortunately, they have resulted in the "incompatible cartridge" message from the printer.

Having checked the website it seems that moving nations can cause some compatibility issues for otherwise compatibe cartridges.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello Newatts,

This can indeed cause some trouble, best thing for you do to at the moment is contacting the local HP support.

Just make sure the cartridges you have are not expired (there's a date on them) and that they are genuin HP cartridges. You can find the support numbers by clicking HERE.

Re: c4485 All-in-one UK moved to Australia

You will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.
