I can't figure out how to install ink cartridges into hp officejet 4500 wireless.  Keep getting not installed properly message!

Help!  Just tried to replace black ink cartridge (with HP original cartridge) and it is saying it is incompatible and

then shutting down.  I can't get the cartridges to move to the righthand side so that I can pull it out again as it

just keeps switching itself off.  What do I do?  Thanks
