deskjet f4280 a disaster

Bought it a little more than a year ago. Used it very little!

Getting the message like so many others complain about that the printer does not recognize the cartridge ! That it is not compatible.

I had only used HP60XL original from HP directly !!! This is a new cartridge, used it to make only 20 prints !

Getting same as others do - a big E at the copy button and blinking lights on top black ink indicators.

I did everything recommended, reinstalled but no help.

Was told to upgrade ! spend more money !  was offered anhp3050, that is for 129 dllrs, reduced to 69 for me, then they offered it for 50.99, then they said that it actually is only 69.00 and they will reduce it to 59.00

THe conclusion is that this printer stinks and stay away from it. I agree that the help you get from HP is just to push more products !!!Maybe you should buy their stock instead of their printers, the way they push sales (rather than service) their stock price should go up.

Try cleaning the cartridige contacts as shown in Solution Six of the cartridges section of the troubleshooting here.

I totally agree - this printer is terrible.  i just set-it up - had never used it before - set-up went well - new cartridge - and when I print - half of the lines/text are missing.  This is crap - do not buy it

I now have the same problem and so do lots of others I know.  First I had the “scan” problem.  The HP fix on the site does not work.  Then I got the stupid “no print cartridge” message.

This must be their way of forcing us to buy new cartridges and I am LIVID.  The only way the fools at HP could have screwed up our printers is with their “update” downloads.  I suggest shutting it off.

But first I want to get someone from HP on the **bleep** phone so I can telll them exactly how I feel about this.
