Card reader not working

Hello Everyone

I have the HP dv8000 laptop, with windows XP home edition and it has the newest drivers for my card reader, but when I put my card in a adapter and put it in the machine in the right slot, nothing happens, and I am very confused why nothing happens, I got the latest drivers from hp.

any ideas would be great.

Diagnostics shows working OK but when card is inserted it is not recognised.

I went to best-buy, and told someone my problem, and they suggested a dynex USB adapter to read the Micro SD, to work in my old laptop. Shows how fast technology is moving way to fast. That also means all my card readers in all my machines will not work anymore. I should learn how to build my own machine to keep up with the madness
