I made my Windows 7 upgrade order with Arvato on November 3 which included my upload of a valid proof of purchase on that same day. It is now December 9 and although the upgrade was finally shipped it is not being tracked very well. Although it has a USPS tracking number the tracking information only says that it was arrived at "DEPARTURE ORIGIN DHL GLOBAL MAIL FACILITY" and the USPS tracking number seems to be of little use after that. It is really beyond me why an American product as simple as a software upgrade CD has to be shipped from Germany.
Arvato's Germany connections are reflected by the fact that in 2001 a majority ownership in DHL was acquired by Deutsche Post. This link shows that most of the company officers have German sounding names:

Maybe because they are European these Arvato people DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE A CLUE that customers would be quite irritated at having to wait more than five weeks (and counting) to get a simple upgrade CD.
Here are Arvato's time requirements to do the gargantuan task of putting a CD in the mail:
1. POP Received = proof of purchase received but not yet validated; processed within 7 business days of receipt.
2. Accepted = proof of purchased validated (this is a twilight zone area where time is not specified)
3. In Process = preparing order for shipment. Typically 3-5 business days.
4. Shipped = kit in transit to customer. Typically 3-5 business days in transit.
In my case it is clear they did not do it in the time they publicize is "typical" for steps 1 to 3 so the odds don't seem great that it will get here before I leave for vacation in a couple of days.
In sum, I will avoid doing business with HP again because of the ridiculously slow processing of my free Windows 7 upgrade by some kind of weird company called Arvato. Maybe the Germans also have control of HP and are funneling some of their operations to Europe. That would be okay if they were not such a bunch of slow motion clowns. They must be on quaaludes or something.

The service at Arvato's site should be getting better now.
For those who are still experiencing problems, send an email to hpupgrade@arvatousa.com and ask for help. To make it easier on you and them... include your name (same name as you used when you filled out the form), your email address, and the Arvato order number (which is a 10-digit number starting with 222).

I am willing to bet if one of the big media houses like CNN or MSNBC would pick up this story, HP would jump in and resolve these problems ASAP
It seems like that is the only way to get anything done the right way these days!

The service has gotten worse, if anything.
I ordered my kit before many people here who claim to have received theirs. (POP Accepted on September 28th!)
Everything they tell me is a lie. I've been promised I'll get in so many timeframes, only to not get it, and be brushed off.
I'm disgusted with this company. There's no excuse anymore for the countless lies their phone operators tell us.

My status has reverted from "shipped" to "accepted" but I have a tracking number that tells me the package is in IL. :/

I have never been more irritated in my entire life. My old HP exploded about a week before Windows 7 is released forcing me to buy a new desktop. Problem number 1: HP has pulled most of it's available models for the release so I have nothing to choose from and needed a pc fast. Not an easy task in the current economic situation with little to no stores that even sell computers. Anyway, I get one with the understanding that a simple upgrade was all I would need the following week to upgrade to 7. I submitted my receipt the same day.
Problem number 2: 2.5 weeks later it is accepted, now November. 2 weeks I wait and no change in status. I call Arvato and am "ASSURED" I wll have it IN MY HANDS by November 20. So now a total of 3.5 weeks later it has shipped, though as I tried to track it it politely told me that I must have enetered the wrong number as no such number exists. Now it has finally arrived at USPS, which I find ludicrous. It's Christmas people, aren't they busy enough at the USPS without having an extra minute to worry about my simple CD Upgrade? I get car brochures that come FEDEX or UPS, didn't my purchase include extra shipping? So now I wait.........3 days there now and only a 30 minute drive from here. But it's been 2 months so what's another day or two.

My installatation went fine.
I had two recommendations before I installed. It recommended that I updated the drivers for my Keyboard filter what ever that is. I checked and all drivers associated with the keyboard.
Also suggested that I uninstalled HP music picture dvd player which I did and I have no idea how I will get it back.
Other than that the only other wierd thing I noticed is that during login after installation, it started giving me the option to set up a digital finger print reader. That is wierd because my computer did not come with a digital fingerprint reader. Problem was easly solved by uninstalling the software.
All the best!!
