Re: Drivers for HP DeskJet 970cxi, Win7

HI PC WIZARD I TO AM AND EX HP EMPLOYEE.

I UNDERSTAND THE STEPS AND I KNOW WHAT IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE.

MY DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THAT.

MY UPDATE SAY --WINDOWS WAS UNABLE TO GET A LIST OF DEVICES

         FROM WIN UPDATE--

SOME ONE OUT THERE MUST HAVE A DRIVER FOR 970CXI OR 970 CSE

THAT WORK IN WIN 7 -32  BECAUSE WIN 7 AIN'T DOING IT.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE INTERNET- ANYONE CAN SEE LOTS OF SITED SELLING THE DRIVERS WITH LOT OF STRINGS ATTACHED

I EVEN TRIED TO GET WIN 7 RC-LATTES UPDATE

AND IT WILL NOT DO THAT.- ALL YOU GOT TO DO IS TO LOOK ON THE INTERNET AND SEE HOW BIG THE PROBLEM IS.  HP USE TO HAVE DRIVERS FOR THERE EQUIPMENT-HAVE THEY GOTTEN THAT BAD

TO DRIVE OLD CUSTOMERS TO BUY BRAND X.

---SOMEONE ON THIS PLANNET MUST HAVE A DRIVER FOR HP 970CXI THAT WILL WIRK FOR WIN 7-32BIT THAY ARE WILLING TO SHARE.

BECAUSE .-WIN 7 AND HP ARE NOT WILLING TO SUPPORT THERE PRODUCTS.

Re: Drivers for HP DeskJet 970cxi, Win7

HI DKIRKEY28,

I can understand your frustrations. Unfortunately, if you are unable to run the windows update from the "Add a printer" screen then you are having an issue with your windows 7 operating system. You will need to contact Microsoft to help resolve that issue.

I am an HP employee.

Re: Drivers for HP DeskJet 970cxi, Win7

THANK YOU FOR YOUR OPPION.

THERE IS VERY LITTLE DOUBT WINDOWS/MICROSOFT HAS A PROBLEM. WHEN I DOWNLOADED WIN 7 A SCREEN CAME UP AND SAID-IN ENGLISH (WE HAVE EVERYTHING WE NEED, WE WILL BE RESTARTING YOUR COMPUTER) AND SO MY WIN 7 PROBLEMS STARTED. WHEN THE COMPUTER CAME BACK UP IT SAID (WE CAN NOT FIND THE INTERNET) I USE A BELKIN USB TO NETWORK 10/100 AND WIN 7 SAID THAY HAVE NO DRIVERS FOR THIS.IN FACT THERE WERE SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. SO I WENT TO MY MAC WENT TO THE BELKIN  WEB SITE FOUND THE DRIVERS PUT THEM ON A ZIP DRIVE CARRIED THEM OVER TO MY PC INSTALLED THE DRIVERS IN A TEMP FILE AND WHEN WIN 7 COULDN’T FIND THE DRIVERS FOR THIS AND COULDN’T DO A UP DATE I TOLD WIN 7- I HAD THE DRIVERS AND WALLA IT WORKS. IN FACT WIN SAID THIS IS A NON WORKING DEVICE ON THERE WEB SITE IN RED- SO I CORRECTED THEM. THANK GOODNESS FOR MAC.

OOOOOOO IT A WIN 7 /MICROSOFT PROBLEM ALL RIGHT. THIS COULD BE WHY PEOPLE ARE GETTING MAC .  BY THE WAY APPLE IS DOING GREAT.

HP USE TO BE THE PLACE TO DOWNLOAD DRIVERS  FOR THERE EQUIPMENT.

IT SEAMS MOST OF OUR FOREIGN AND ASIAN EQUIPMENT MFG’S ARE MORE THEN EAGER TO SUPPORT THERE EQUIPMENT, BY THE WAY I CAN GET DRIVERS  AND SUPPORT FOR MY OLD CANNON EQUIPMENT. I AM TRYING TO POINT OUT TO YOU ME PCWIZARD HP IS PART OF THE PROBLEM. I KNEW AND

TALKED WITH AND HAD DINNER WITH MR DAVID  PACKARD OF THE TEAM HEWLETT AND PACKARD. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE DAVE PACKARD WOULD NOT SUPPORT HP EQUIPMENT. IT APPEARS HP HAS POINTED AT WIN/MICROSOFT AND WIN 7-MS POINTS TO HP. WHEN I WAS AT HP WE USE TO CALL THIS A CIRCLE JERK. THAT LEAVES US COSTUMERS WITH A 970CXI  PROBLEM WITH SOME CHOICES.

GO BACK TO XP SP 3 (IT WORKS) OR THROW OUT THE HP 970CXI PRINTER (IT WORKS) OR HOPE SOME ONE IN THE INTERNET GOES ROUG AND LIST THE 970 CXI DRIVER.

BOY THIS CIRCLE MAKES MY MAC,APPLE LOOK GREAT.

RUMER HAS IT HP HAS PROBLEMS

YOU  DON’T HAVE TO PROVE IT TO ME.

BY THE WAY THIS IS WRITTEN ON MY MAC AND SENT FROM MY MAC (IT WORKS)

LETS SAY YOU BUY A NEW CAR- IT HAS A PROBLEM WHENWHEN YOU TELL THE DEALER THE DEALER SAY ITS ANOTHER CO. PROBLEM SO YOU GO TO THE OTHER CO AND THE OTHER COMPANY SAT WE DON'T HAVE THAT ITS THE DEALER PROBLEM.

   YEP ITS A CIRCLE JERK.

   FRUSTRATED

Re: Drivers for HP DeskJet 970cxi, Win7

 I SUMMARIZED THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.

I SUGGEST YOU PRINT THEM -IF YOU NEED TO TO USE

THIS LINK.

INSTRUCTION  DON’T TYPE THE “

1
Open the Windows Services utility by going to the "Start" menu, selecting "Run," typing "services.msc" into the search box and then clicking "OK." In Windows 7/Vista, type it into the "Start Search" box in the "Start" menu and hit "Enter."

2
Click on the "Name" field to sort the list of services by name. Scroll down the list to "Automatic Updates" ("Windows Update" in Windows 7/Vista), right-click on it and select "Stop." Right-click on "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" (directly underneath "Automatic Updates" in Windows XP) and select "Stop."

3
Go back to the Run tool in the Start menu (if it does not appear in your Start menu, press the "Windows" key + "R" to open it). Copy and paste "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution," click "OK" and then delete all the contents of the folder (press and hold the "Ctrl" key, click to select each file, and then press the "Delete" key on your keyboard).

4
Close the folder and go back to the Windows Services utility. Right-click on the two services you stopped ("AutomaticUpdates"/"Windows Update" and "Background Intelligent Transfer Service") and select "Start."

5
Open Windows Update by going to the Run tool, typing "%SystemRoot%\system32\wuapp.exe" into the search box ("%SystemRoot%\system32\wupdmgr.exe" in Windows XP) and then clicking "OK."

 6

Click Check " for updates." Windows will now find all of your updates and prompt you to download and install them.

panther3001,

I've resisted upgrading from my 10yr old XP to something better for just that reason. The printer is great but HP doesn't seem to care about support over time.

Your step by step find was exactly what I was looking for and it WORKED! I'm glad there are still smart minds like yours out there. Mine's getting old and foggy (I'm 64 next month)

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...infinity !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

[ Edited ]

Hi usman007,

The drivers for your HP product are already included in the new Windows 7 operating system! You do not need to download drivers to use the product . Simply connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable, and Windows Update automatically installs the driver for your product.

With the in-OS The driver located in the Windows 7 operating systemdriver, some of the buttons on the product do not function and some of the advanced product features are not available. For more information about your in-OS driver, and to see workarounds for lost functionality, go to the Frequently asked questions section.

Install the Windows 7 in-Operating System (in-OS) print driver
When you connect your printer to the computer, Windows 7 detects the hardware and automatically installs the correct driver. A notification lets you know when installation begins and when it is complete. You do not have to download any software or insert the product CD.
