Ridiculous, and VERY ANNOYING.  This printer has given me loads of frustration over the past couple of years, I really do hate it, but I've got supplies to last a couple years.  DUH.  I'd like to drop it from a plane on HP HQ.

Re: HP Laserjet Color 3600n Driver for Windows 7

Hi,

My company has had 3 HP Laserjet Color 3600n Printers. we've now started swapping some PCs for Windows 7.

I had some trouble at first but I've now installed the Microsoft Vista drivers and just played around for a while. They now work fine...

Re: HP Laserjet Color 3600 Driver for Windows 7

Hi Everyone --

Not sure why HP can't suggest this, but we tried for WEEKS with no luck installing the driver...but today we downloaded the entire SOFTWARE package for Vista (more than 40 mb) and it worked like a charm...

1. Download the entire Windows Vista software package for the HP3600 (not just the driver)

2.  Follow the install instructions.  Once the installation has finished, go to Windows 7 Devices and Printer to install a new printer.

3.  Select HP on the left, and the HP 3600 shows up on the right hand side.  Follow the instructions and plug in the USB cable when prompted.

4.  Use DOT4 for the printer port (LPT1 does not work)  Voila!!

5.  At this point we printed a test page and manual duplexing.  Which was progress!

6.  Then right-click on the 3600 printer, properties/ click customize setting, from the Device Settings tab change Duplex Unit to installed, then Apply.  It is now duplexing automatically and everything works as expected!

Re: HP Laserjet Color 3600n Driver for Windows 7

Not providing specific Windows 7, 32 & 64 bit drivers for the Laserjet 3600 is  extremely irresponsible on H's part.  Any wonder why in many customer satisfaction surveys, HP is at or near the bottom?  This 'modern' HP simply no longer cares about the customers!  All they care is sell, sell, sell.

Just expressing our views and frustrations on this forum will not solve the lack of specific Windows 7  drivers issue.
A few days ago I mailed a serious complaint letter  on this issue to HP's CEO Ms. Meg Whitman.  We need to address our situation to her.  It is very likely that some irresponsible 'bean counting' manager is making name for himself/herself by reducing cost and not supporting the Laserjet 3600.

From my experience, this 'modern HP' has a history of bad support for two laptops, GPS unit and now the 3600.
No doubt there are many more HP NO support victims out there.

I urge you all to flood the CEO's office with complaints.

Thank you.

Thanks for the thoughts.  It would be nice if HP were the only one of Americas Corporations that don't care about their retail consumers, but I feel that most business today only wants to make money and the heck with social responsibility.

Re: HP Laserjet Color 3600n Driver for Windows 7

You are correct about business making money.  However, part of the problem is that the consumer accept the abuse without attempting to do anything about it.  If enough consumer were to 'fight' back things nay change.  The companies feel that they can get away with the abuse because no one fights back.

I fight back,  As the saying goes, "the pen is mightier than the sword".  I write letters to company presidents and CEOs.  When this happens, mst of the time the companies do respond and fix their wrong doings.  Sometimes it even works with the corrupt politicians (most are).

My letter to HP's CEO went out only 4 days ang and I do not expect any reply for at least another week, if it ever comes.  I have complained to past HP presidents and CEO and it did work.

I do not know if there is a limit as to the length of postings on this forum.  I will try to post my letter to Ms Whitman on this form in about a week.

Does the highly irresponsible and abusive HP management expect us to purchase new printers every times we upgrade or change our operating systems?  It certainly appears so.

Re: HP Laserjet Color 3600n Driver for Windows 7

This is a reply to message 53 by Kim Rose.  You are absolutely correct!  HP does not care supporting their products and certainly not the customers.  All they care is the bottom line. However, this policy is only short lived.  After HP has sufficiently victimized and abused its customer based, these customers will abandon HP and there will be no one to abuse.
Regrettably, there are some executives (unfortunately to many) that neglect/abolish customer care and show 'great' bottom line.  Once they have done so, they jump the sinking ship with a 'good bottom line profit' resume and move to another higher position elsewhere and start the damage game again.  While these selfish executives move up the corporate ladder the old ship in sinking.  I do have first hand experience with such a situation and it is very unfortunate.

Sadly, it appears, that HP has an abundance of such irresponsible executives who only care about their own promotion, fake bottom line and **bleep** the victimized customers.

If the late Messrs William Hewlett and David Packard were alive today, they would not tolerate this customer abuse.  Under their leadership HP’s customer care could not be matched.  This care and product quality is what made the company successful and respected.  Now it is run by selfish bean counters.

I too was a long time HP customer but no more.  Enough is enough.  One of my clients is in need of new printers.  Hey HP bean counters, you have created plenty of  customer neglect and  it is not going to be your products.

The least that they can do is provide adequate and detailed instructions on the product's site so that users can solve their problems quickly and use the printers with the newer OS.  Such instructions may take only a few hours for someone who is very familiar with the product, such as the 3600 product manager.  The problem is that there is NO will on the part of HP.

It appears that HP's 'new' and dishonest business plan is, buy a new printer when you upgrade the OS.

Thank you.

Mort

Re: HP Laserjet Color 3600n Driver for Windows 7

THANK YOU A MILLION-FOLD. This worked beautifully.  I already had the driver downloaded. I just couldn't figure out how to make the darn thing install.

NOW - I have a similar issue with my Lexmark E210. I need the windows 7 64-bit driver to install. Guess I'll try something similar.

Thanks again!
