Chilly,
Try going into the printers and devices and click add a printer. I believe I had to do that to add the wireless printer to mine. After the software install I had the printer show up as a generic printer with id number as the name. I believe I ran the "add a printer" to get the wireless and bluetooth set up. I would like to know what you did to get the solution center to work. When I open mine I get a message that the installation is not complete. If your solution center works it must be detecting that the printer is installed. I remember having to do a complete uninstall of the first time to get the software installer to run all the way through. I also recently invested in a new n router, it seems to have more capabilities than my older one.

I've done 2 separate installs, one on my desktop 32 bit, and on my laptop 64 bit, and both seem to be working fine. Only difference is mine is hooked to the network.
I have tried doing the Windows 7 own Printer drivers install, and it does show up then. But you only have printer functionality. The weird thing is for me if you just install the v13 full driver install from HP, it is listed when you want to print something, but does not show up in devices & printers. Device manager has it listed as an imaging device.

You can add the printer thru devices and printers, but that isnt a full solution. mine is networked wireless, I advise to use the printer itself to join your network, but as for the whole thing, you get differing results as I indicated in my first two originating threads.
On my other desktop which had nothing but a fresh install of win 7:
downloaded V13, and ran... I elected in terms of time to just install the drivers, solution center and imaging monitor.
Goes thru ok, sees printer, and lo and behold! It lists one in devices and printers.
But alas, it was not to be.
What ends up happening is that you get two (2) printer drivers and one fax seen in the print dialog boxes, one of them being a (copy 1), and that
is the one listed in solution center, though I suppose that's better then not having it see the printer at all. It did communicate and get ink levels and all.
Presto, it is a SW issue, not the result of an upgrade to win 7 from vista, it is something wrong with v13 and not placing the proper devices into devices and printers during setup.
So when will we see v14 ?

Hey Guys!!!!
I decided to revisit pages at MS and HP for info, nothing found, HOWEVER ....
Uninstall the device out of devices and printers.
Re-run your Version 13 install, you will see it now gives you the win 7 detection, continue, it then "applies updates" for a bit, then it cycles back tot he install and a win 7 detection a second time,
I instyalled just drivers and the solution center.
Guess what?
Solution center WORKS now.
You will NOT see the C309a show up in devices and printers, however both the printer and fax are seen in your standard print dialogs, and have full functionality at this point. Mine is thru wifi, and I get a connected message, and ink levels now.
Under Computer, I get my network location Z: drive for the card reader. ![]()
Have to rerun install to add the OCR and photosmart essentials SW, etc.
HP - Good job in whatever updates you made. I'm not concerned if the thing doesnt show up in devices and printers, I suppose or hope you looked at my posts beforehand, in V14 would like to see that corrected, but to have my full printer back is awesome.
Thank you!
Marc

Interesting, try redownloading v13 from the site, then retry, I redownloaded myself instead of using the previously downloaded installer.
Did you see it do anything about applying updates?

Darn, I think you should purge all traces of it from your registry, then retry, something still isnt right, but I also can see it still being the software as well.
You won't see it show up in printers and devices, I believe that is part of the issue - they havent coded it correctly for it to exist there AND inthe print dialog boxes, in my previous installs I would have it but it would be a copy of a non-existing/shown printer, and the copy would be the one showing in solution center.
I was hoping it would work for you now as well, I wonder if Chilly has had any success.

I am having the same problem on my Windows 7 machine where the device is not showing in "Devices and Printers" but is showing up in the print dialogs.
Interestingly, I was using the exact same driver on the same machine under the Windows 7 Release Candidate with no problems.
I have tried installing the driver immediately after a completely clean install of Windows 7 64-Bit and still have the same problem.
I am also having the issue that the solution center software will randomly crash.
Don't know why this driver worked fine under the RC but not the RTM builds. HP - Please fix this soon! Thanks.
