I got the printer installed, but the scanner doesn't show up.
The software download failed to find my printer connected to the wireless network.
I manually installed the drivers. Can anyone help me out?

If you manually installed the drivers, you will only get printer functionality out of it.
What happens if you run the network setup wizard from the printer to add it to your network, then re-run the software install?
Also make sure your network is a HOME network, so that the permissions to see devices on the network are enabled, otherwise the software will search all day and never find it.

My 309g isn't being found wirelessly by the HP software either. My printer finds my network and the laptop finds the network but the HP software installation can't find the printer or my network. So, no wireless printing. works fine when connected via USB. Please Help! i spent all day on phone with HP and no luck figuring this out. I'm on Windows 7. thanks!

I, too, have had NUMEROUS problems with my C309a connecting & staying connected wirelessly for WEEKS now. I've uninstalled, reinstalled so many times I've lost count. HP Tech Support was USELESS (sorry to say!). I've been a VERY loyal fan of HP's for years...we have this new printer, have 2 new laptops HP dv7 Entertainment AND a dv8 Entertainment laptops and a new HP Digital camera. HP's customer service used to be untouchable...can't say that anymore, can we?!
I did go to the HP support page for the C309a & 'ordered' the Win7 64 bit CD (which was mailed free of charge, since mine is still under warranty, & I'm assuming ya'll's is also).
I've now been connected to the HP Solution Center for over an hour without a 'disconnect'! It was only staying connected 10-15 minutes max, so for me, that's HUGE!
After much searching, I finally found where to do a 'factory default reset' to the printer so it would be just like I took it out of the box! Here's what I did (in the order I did it):
1) Uninstall printer on computer.
2) Unplug power cord on printer. Wait 20 seconds & holding down the "#' key & the number '6' key at the same time, plug the computer back in. It will take about 10-14 minutes for it to go through 'all the motions' of resetting. You'll have to re-enter your country, language, etc. just like you did when you took it out of the box. The wireless light will not be on. You have to go through:
1) Setup
2) Network
3) Wireless Setup Wizard
to configure you printer for wireless if you are connecting through a router, like I am.
Uninstall the HP Printer & any other files associated with it on your computer. I used the installation disc to uninstall, not the 'add/remove programs', as the uninstall on the disc showed many more files to be removed (come to find out, there were THREE printers installed I missed!), so I just think it's a good idea to use the disc or download from the website, not add/remove programs.
Reinstall printer software (version 13.0) for Windows 7 on your computer (from the disc or download) and when it gets to connection type, tell it 'Wireless' & let it find your printer. Go through all the steps & let it reinstall the HP Solution Center, too.
If you want to order the CD for Windows 7 or download the current 13.0 Version for Windows 7, here is the link:
http://tinyurl.com/yb8smd7
you will have to choose your operating system from this page to continue.
I will include the information I found about the reset, so if you only need to do a 'partial reset', you'll have that, too (even though they seem to do almost the same thing!):
PERFORMING A PARTIAL RESET OF THE C309a ALL-IN-ONE:
1. Unplug the power cord from the product and wait 20 seconds.
2. Press and hold down # and 3 while plugging in the power cord to the product.
3. Release the buttons after the product starts up. The product will now be set to factory defaults.
CAUTION: Performing a semi-full reset DELETES any saved phone numbers on the product.
A PARTIAL RESET RESETS THE FOLLOWING SETTINGS:
- All user menu settings are reset to the default values
- All telephony parameter values are reset to the default values
- Country and language user interface is reset to the default values
- Fax memory is cleared
PERFORMING A FULL RESET OF THE C309a ALL-IN-ONE:
1. Unplug the power cord from the product and wait 20 seconds.
2. Press and hold how # and 6 while plugging in the power cord to the product.
3. Release the buttons after the product starts up. The product will now be set to factory defaults.
I then went to START, Devices and Printers, and added my printer and set it as the default.
It shows up in my Device Manager as an Imaging Device and also shows up at Z: location on the computer. Like the other guy stated, I really don't care where it shows up as or on what drive, as long as I have my printer when I need it & it's CONNECTED and I don't have to jump through hoops everytime I need to print something! ![]()
That's what worked for me & I hope it will work for you, too!
Have a wonderful & blessed 2010!
SASHA
PS I've now been connected TWO WHOLE HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS is a record!

I've read all above notes with great interest.. I've tried as many combinations as I can think of with the same results.
Two issues:
When attempting to open HP Solution Center, I receive the following message:
"HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete. Please plug in the USB cable or re-run the setup program from installation CD...etc"
2nd issue: Though scanner appears to work, I eventually receive this message: "0x00000015 device not ready".
After 3 unsuccessful [though informatie] chat sessions, it was suggested that I run from administrator account, which is evidently different from my account which has administrator privileges..
My latest attempt was the following:
• Uninstall device from Device & Printers [from my account]
• Uninstall allc309a related items from Control Panel [uninstall a program]
• Uninstall software via L1, L2 & L3 -in user account
• Enable administrator account
• Log into administrator account
• Download PS_AIO_05_C309a_Net_Full_Win_enu_130_161 [4-2009]
• Install v 13 in administrator account
• Install HP Solution Center
• Rebooted
• no luck - same error message "HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete. Please plug in the USB cable or re-run the setup program from installation CD...etc"
• Ran patch per another suggestion.
• Rebooted.
• Same error message.
Miscellaneous info:
• printer works- when plugged in with USB cable
• HP Solution Center does not work
• scanner appears to work-then gives 0x00000015 error message - device not ready
• I've ordered windows 7 cd, as my cd only had vista and xp drivers. Should arrive in a week or so.
I've had new HP PC for approx two months. In the beginning the HP Solution Center worked. Later, it only recognized
one of the two HP printers - said the c309a was offline. One of the chat sessions suggested I uninstall the 4400 scanner printer -which I did.
Since that time, the Solution Center has not worked.

Tom,
I, too, ordered the Win7 CD & it arrived a couple of weeks ago. I hate to be the one to tell you....it's not going to get any better, my friend.
After doing that LOOOOONG post by the next day I was disconnected....since that time, I've tried every work around I could think of, still with the same results. Finally tried 'scanning'....what a joke! Scanned TWO documents, went to scan the third & that wonderful (ho hum) error message came up "Scanning Error". NOTHING I've tried has gotten rid of it! and I absolutely REFUSE to UNISTALL/REINSTALL ONE MORE TIME!
I GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm taking the printer back tomorrow! It's a HUNK OF JUNK & is going on our burn pile down in the pasture!
I wish I'd waited a few months & let the reviews catch up with the launch date...but, no, I had to have the latest & greatest as soon as it was released.
Also, after the last uninstall/reinstall, the FAX icons were missing from the Solution Center...pfffft....stick a fork in me-I'm DONE!
I cannot say with enough DISDAIN how much I detest HP TECH SUPPORT & how disappointed I am with them! HP used to have GREAT customer service. I can't say that anymore.
The day I bought the printer there was a lady walked by me & said, 'I hope you're not thinking of buying that HP printer...their customer service is horrible!'. Having been a LOYAL HP fan for years, I totally disregarded it thinking she wasn't as 'tech savy' as I was (she was an older lady) & probably didn't know what she was talking about. I wish I had her phone number, I'd call & apologize for my rash judgement of her & her advice!
To the other forum members, I apologize for trying to 'fix' the problem. Obviously, it didn't FIX anything!
From my experience, I can tell you that the only way I got the Solution Center to work was to uninstall/reinstall the program! I was having the same problem as you, the Solution Center would tell me it was not installed & to plug in the USB cable. Well, even if you plug in the USB cable, it's not going to go ahead & install (the Solution Center). HP should have a specific download JUST for the SOLUTION CENTER instead of it being packaged in the whole exe installation file! Even if you copy the .EXE file to a CD, open it & look for the Solution Center IT IS NOT THERE, I've tried!! Maybe some of you more tech savvy people can tell him how to do it just to get the Solution Center. Even when I asked tech support, though, they said it couldn't be done....so, once again, we're at the mercy of bloated HP software!
I'm going back to get a LEXMARK Platinum PRO905 tomorrow. I previewed one yesterday & fell in love!
Sorry I couldn't help more! Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply SuthernCharm.
I must be HP Tech Support's best friend as I am still too obstinate to give up [so far]. I had another 2+ hour chat session [5th chat session to-date]. I will say, that each time I learn a bit more and they give me a few more things to try out.
One of my major frustrations is that when I go through the uninstall with the chat person, on the last screen that says you must click finish, it will do an automatic reboot of the system. I explain to the chat person that the reboot is automatic - I cannot delay it. Though I tried to last nite, the software would not begin to install until uninstall was completed. Again, clicking finish ended my chat session. After chat session, I proceeded to install once again in Administrator mode...same resulting error message. What was different this time, is that it said I needed to upgrade my Adobe Flash player, which I did - no luck.
I have not yet tried a phone call to online support, I suppose that should be my next step.
Several questions:
When I get sent to the Temp folder via "%temp%", I see a long list of "7Z..." files. Does anyone believe it would be helpful to delete most of what is in there?
Also, recently I sent a list of items I've tried via e-mail to HP Tech Support. One of recommendations was to go to web pointer that pointed to Microsoft Windows 7 location. It would wipe out numerous drivers. I was a bit reticent as the Tech Support person was under the impression that I was upgrading from Win XP. In fact, my PC is only several months old and started out with Windows 7.
Final note - as mentioned before, when I first installed c309a onto this pc, the HP Solution Center worked. Not sure how much I will lose [most likely everything] if I reload Win 7 software.
THanks in advance for any help.

Tom,
First off, let me tell you if you do a complete restore back to Windows 7 was in the factory condition to which it arrived to you...you WILL loose all your information. That, I am certain about!
Do a search on Google for '7Z in temp folder' and you will find all kinds of links to click on that describe various scenarios.
Sorry I couldn't be more help...maybe someone else knows!
Have a great day unless you're planning to do otherwise (like call tech support!) ![]()

Thanks once again SuthernCharm!! I thought I had googled everything on the subject of c309a & Windows 7, but I must confess, I hadn't thought of that one. I'll give it a shot.
As I am new to HP forums, I only just discovered that this particular location has been closed to new threads as it was part of Win 7 beta. I've since searched for other c309a related areas in HP forum. I have located one and once again told my tale of woe, but no responses as of yet.
I received an email from an HP support person pointing me to new version of Flash which might be another possible glitch. My XP pc [which incidently works quite well with HP Solution Center] recently insisted that I upgrade to new Flash - and all was / is well with that pc. No message about that in Windows 7 version.
If you have suggestions as to other web pointers for similar issues in HP Support, I'll be pleased to check them out.
Once again, thank you very much for your responses.
Tom
