I believe this message is a joke.  Do not bother hooking up your old scanner to try it with the import function of Windows Photo Gallery based on this posting. It still won't work.

Re: Scanners Supported in Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7

What seems interestuing to me about this is that HP keps their printer drivers up to date, but feel the scanners aren't worth the effort.  most scanners now a days only do 8.5x11.  I have an older Scanjet 4C that does legal size scans.  Guess I need to keep an old system around just so I can scan legal documents and when my current HP equpimet dies, I will also look elsewhere to products.  Since I run a small business and have a full network in the house, when I replace the HP server I currently have I'll most likely go with Dell or IBM.  When my printers need replaced I'll go with Lexmark or Xerox.  If HP doesn't think small business customers or home customers are important, time to find a company that does value those.

Re: Scanners Supported in Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7

I have tried to use the scanning software version 13 for my G4010 scanner under Windows 7. To be blunt, it reeks.  How can I write up bug reports for the developers?

And how can I tell HP to send me my lost password for their support site?

The only option they give me is to ask for a new logon using a different e-mail address.

That's bogus.

Everybody else sends your lost password to your e-mail address.

By the way, the Laserjet 1500 driver reeks under Windows 7, too.

Perhaps HP didn't realize that when Microsoft pulled its support for XP, they might have to give full honest support to Windows 7.

When our machines out here in the field die, Microsoft gives us no choice but to go to Windows 7 (cuz Vista reeks).

Hey, HP, if you're gonna make hardware that lasts longer than a cellphone, you might consider keeping up with the operating systems revisions.

But what I'm finding most frustrating is I can't find a place on this freakin' website to submit a bug report.

Doesn't HP care about knowing what the bugs are that their users are experiencing?

I want Dave and Bill back.

They at least cared about their customers.

GIVE ME A WEB PAGE TO WRITE UP MY PROBLEM REPORTS.

It's sane.

And it would indicate you care.

What'd be even better is if you'd fix the problems, too.

Re: Scanners Supported in Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7

I had the same problem, but I found that "Windows Photo Gallery" works very well if you want to give it time, it's not so complicated and you can scanto file or Scan an print. For now, these are the two features I used regularly when a document needs to be put in electronic format.

Re: Scanners Supported in Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7

Is there a patch or upgrade for the HP scanjet 5370c?  I was forced to upgrade to Windows 7 and have not been able to get my scanner work with the system.  In this economy it would be a shame to be forced into discarding a perfectly good scanner.  Please Help!!

Re: Scanners Supported in Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7

I have been a loyal costumer for almost 30 years (since the HP scientific calculator).  Today I found out that I cannot install my HP scanjet 5470c because HP has not have a driver that it is compatible with Windows 7.  My scanner works perfectly and it is a great scanner.  I run a small business  and I cannot afford to throw away a product that works great. Especially in this economy.  I am also finding out that  I have to get ride off two HP printers because  HP stop producing the ink cartridges.

I have to buy a new scanner and printer.  I guess I have to buy one in all product.  Fine,  I will give my small business an early Christmas present, but if you think you can force me to buy your new products think again.  Today I am buying everything, but an HP product.  You just lost a costumer. (and you wonder why your company is not doing great).

Yes I also replaced my HP scanner, printer and digital cameras with the canon pixma all in one printer scanner fax, a canon dslr and canon point & shoot - now buying either a laptop or tablet... I don't care if it's $$ more, would not touch anything H P ever again.

Will HP's basic driver work with ScanJet 5550c with Windows 7?

I have an HP ScanJet 5550c with a document feeder. HP claims there is a basic driver that will work with Windows 7, called setup_basic_4500_5500.exehttp://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=77376&pr... )

Before I buy a new computer with Windows 7 on it, has anyone had any experience with this driver? Will it allow the document feeder to work?

Thanks for any helpful replies!

Re: Scanners Supported in Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7

I've worked for a Authorized HP reseller for many years.  I''ve been a HP Certified Tech and I'm just so disapointed in the fact that I have to now trash my Scanjet 5370C Scanner since I'm upgrading my Compac XP PC to a Windows 7 due to the lack of driver's.  As someone stated, Yes there is a driver for my legacy LJ-4+ because HP still can make $$ selling Toners to me.  They also have driver's for my other printers, LJ-4550, 5SI, 1500 & DJ-D1560 & Photosmart 245.  Anything that they can make a buck on.  IT'S A SHAME!.  I remember a few years ago the were giving DJ's away for free after rebate's (good marketing ploy, as a Tech I know you can't buy parts to repair them so they are disposables) but now look at all the ink cartridges you have to buy especially the partially filled Tri-colored,when the printer stops printing because just 1 color runs out.  Not bad marketing thinking selling to the simple home market consumer.  Look at my vent & believe it or not I'll still stay a true hard dedicated HP person who just xxxxxx over no longer having or being able tyo aford buying a new HP Scanner.  HP Still makes the Best Printer's Scanner's & Laptop's in the world I own them & will continue to buy the. I just want HP to be as loyal to me and their other customers as we are to them!!!!
