Seeking help with windows 7 and Photosmart P1100

OK - same problem. Different user.  I have loaded both drivers. I am using the USB cable also.  I have played with the DOT4 port and also changed it to the USB001: but it does not seem to stick and reverts. When I change to USB001 and reboot (since the driver does not seem to load) I would have thought Win7 would locate it and load it then. It does not. Then it (WIN 7) reverts back on the ports asking me to use the "unidentified device" supposedly on the LPT1 ( and I haven't seen one of those cables in 5 years and prefer not to have to buy one - but will if there is no other work around).  Am I dealing with a cache memory thing? USB driver seqencing issue? Do I need to unload everything, reboot and load it back in a certain sequence on the driver, port selection and then adding the printer live to make it work!? Help. The P1100 is a trusty old printer my wife loves.

This is the FOURTH time HP has obsoleted a PERFECTLY GOOD printer of mine simply because they disable device drivers or won't take the time to write new ones for new Windoze versions.  Happened with Millenshiummz, XP, Vista and NOW WINDOWS 7.  They do this all the time and on purpose.  I won't buy another HP printer, ever.

I went through this process but it will not let me install the driver...  it says "Printer driver was not installed.  Access is denied."  It does the same for both drivers suggested...  Help!  I don't want to have to get a new printer!

i luv my two P 1100 printers and HATE MS & HP for tossing them aside.

Primary reason I flipped tp APPLE Mac, which recognized both from day one.

Anyway, installing the printer drivers on my Lady's PC.....( I did warn her)

I have tried everything so far, and only here have I got stuck: I can't see DOT4 port, though I could find the USB001 one- it didn't work, though. If it makes any difference I am on a Windows7 Starter. Thanks for your heop
