According to this press release http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press/2009/090625xa.html?mtxs=rss-corp-news I should be eligible for the upgrade program, and I bought my computer thursday (25th) thinking so.  What are my options?  I followed the website where you ask for a upgrade, and it told me my date wasn't eligible. What should I do?  Return my computer and buy it again?

Re: Upgrade Program for Window 7

My hubby is getting me an HP-DV3 1075US laptop in the US (hopefully by this week) and will be sending it to the Philippines. If he buys it from Best Buy, will HP still provide the Upgrade Kit? If so, will the Windows 7 Upgrade Kit gonna be sent to my husband's US address in San Jose or can I request for it to be sent to our address in the Philippines? I am really confused here. Please help.

Re: Upgrade Program for Window 7

I purchased a G60t on Jun 22, 2009, but the computer did not ship until Jun 29, 2009.  Would this computer still qualify for this upgrade program?

Re: Upgrade Program for Window 7

I think it's a really great thing that HP is offering this to it's consumers.  However, to those of us who bought pcs just less than a week ago don't qualify for this upgrade and I do not think this is at all good business. I had bought my laptop just a month ago, a rebate was offered  and I haven't had it long enough to get it back yet. If I had bought my laptop today it would be eligible because I saw that is was on the list. I believe I will not be the first or last person to have issue with this.  I'm in the mind set to go back to the store where I purchased my laptop because I am still in my 60 day return period and return and rebuy the laptop to qualify as that is a loophole I have found. I reccommend anyone in the same situation as I am do the same if you are able.  I believe a more fair way to offer the upgrades to its consumers is to anyone who has purchased a pc in the 6 months prior to the release of Windows 7 as that seems to make good business sense.  Up until I was happy with the customer service I had recieved so far, but now I am completely disappointed.  HP I really hope you listen and make some changes that promote better good faith with its consumers.

Thanks

B.S.

Re: Upgrade Program for Window 7

Be aware of the small print when considering purchasing a computer with Vista now, and free Windows 7 when released.  It is # 35 on the PDF file of FAQ's.  If your computer is ever repaired, under warranty or not, Windows 7 will be deleted and Vista reinstalled as it is the "original" operating system:

"35. What happens if my computer is upgraded and then later repaired by HP?
HP returns your unit back to the original factory image, which is Windows Vista. When you get
your computer back, you must perform the upgrade again using the Windows 7 upgrade kit you
previously ordered."

It can be found here:

http://www.hp.com/united-states/consumer/windows7-upgrade/faq.html

That may a pain for some folks.  I was excited, and about to order a new laptop before reading this. I have decided now to wait until 7 is offically released.   Of course, this may not be a negative for some...

Re: Upgrade Program for Window 7

Thanks for the post, but what are my options when customer service says no.  I purchased a DV4-1444dx machine on the 28th of this month.  DV4 is on the list but they said my model did not qualify?  It has a Vista 64 bit home premium sv Pack 1 operating system.  and a T4200 2 G processor.

Re: Upgrade Program for Window 7

I would just call CS and direct them to their own site which states that All new Pavilion are included in the free upgrade...

If CS still says no, I'd personnally be saying, "Supervisor Please!".   Print out the page in case they change it, so you can send it somewhere if ever need be.
